The colors of Jakarta featuring 82 paintings will be on show at Galery Pasar Seni Ancol (Ancol Art Market Gallery ) from Juli 25 to August 15. The painting selected from more 3,456 painting of the Jakarta Art Award 2008 painting competition as a part of the celebrations for Jakarta’s anniversary.
The participants of the competition had captured Jakarta on canvas in various creative ways. Many of them have highlighted the environmental problems around the city, while others have illustrated the sadness and happiness of human faces.
The Jakarta Art Award will announce the winner on the opening ceremony. The winner will receive a prize of Rp 50 million and five runners-up will each take home Rp 30 million and five special reward will receive Rp 4 million each.
Visitors also have a chance to pick their favorite painting, and the winner of the "people's choice award" will receive Rp 10 million.
