‘Enjoy’ T-Shirts Recalled

About 6,000 Chinese-made t-shirts have been recalled because they can cause allergic reactions if not washed before use:
Tests by parties including a public health center in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, found formaldehyde in a yellow “Enjoy” T-shirt sold at Osaka-based clothing retailer Starvations. A 9-month-old girl from Amagasaki was also reported to have come out in a rash after wearing another T-shirt design. Three complaints over the T-shirts were reportedly received.
The formaldehyde is thought to have come from ink used for printing on the T-shirts, which were produced at a factory in China. Formaldehyde dissolves in water, and it can reportedly be washed out.

Why does made in China product are bad for people and pets?
thats a bit overpaniced
almost every t-shirt produced will cause allergic , itching reactions if not washed before use
btw just check were all your t-shirts are from…. yes idd china
Yesterday I read about a poisonous herbicide found in Healthya green tea so you better be careful about every single Japanese product you buy because they are almost as bad as the Chinese when it comes to product safety.
The Japanese just apologize better.
The Mainichi story about that was in the link box this morning. That story is being presented as a suspected case of an individual deliberately opening a sealed bottle, putting poison in it, and placing it in on a supermarket shelf:
I doubt it will make anyone seriously afraid about Japanese products in general, but that particular brand of tea will probably suffer a drop in sales.
Yeah you are right, it won’t make Japanese people more suspicious of what they buy because it isn’t foreign. I wonder how long before a Japanese import kills someone in a foreign country the way things are going. And would Japan like to be labeled the way China is?
Yeah, that Tea is dead.
wow.
the article talks about it as a japanese company with no mention of china until the last sentence..
and yet this post is all too ready to point the finger at the chinese.
over something that’s had 3 complaints.
well done.
my bad, china’s also mentioned in the first line.
still not clear on what the intention of the post is though.
seems to be spreading the bias rather than drawing attention to it
It was a top story of the day and was about Japanese perceptions of foreign countries, so I posted a link to an article about it. This is a blog that tries to cover Japan news of that nature, and I was counting on readers to discuss the possible biases behind this story in the comments section.
The story is being reported as was by every major Japanese media outlet: as a Chinese product scare.
The first sentence of the English Mainichi article mentions it as a Chinese-made product, and if you click on the link to view the original Japanese language article it was translated from, you’ll see that the headline itself contains “中国製Tシャツ”.)
