Have you ever wished to have more followers on Twitter? Tired on languishing with only a few dozen spam bots following you? Well, Andrew Baron, founder of Rocketboom, is here to help you make your dream come true.
Mr. Baron feels he has been using his Twitter account improperly, and because he's set up to dish tweets on the official Rocketboom account on the service, he thinks it is now time to stop using his personal outlet. Instead of just deleting his account, though, he got the idea that perhaps someone would like to take it over for themselves. Seeing as he has 1,471 followers, it would be boring to just give it away, so he did what any red-white-and-blue-blooded American would do. He seeks a sale by putting it up for auction on eBay.

Yes, as of this writing (10:359 AM EST, April 13) the auction is at $510, and going by his own listing, he had 1,397 followers when it started, so this has actually gained him followers, making the assumed value even higher.
In the auction, Baron does offer bidders a preliminary caution: "Also, as with any dynamic group, there is obviously risk. My followers could jump ship at anytime. There is no guarantee on this part. People will come and go, thats just the way it is." So, for all you know, you could just end up with an empty Twitter account when all is said and done. But hey, it's one that has an interesting story, right?
Also worth nothing is that there is the unanswered question of how Twitter's administrators themselves will respond to the sale. It's doubtful they'll have a problem with it, but have they even discussed the possibility of people selling their accounts? Could this auction start a whole new trend of people divesting their Twitter accounts as commodities for cash? And what about any number of other social accounts? How much is a MySpace account with no glittery graphics worth now a days?

Of course, we can't go posting about a nifty story of this type without offering some shameless plugs for the Mashable staff. Please feel free to follow any and all members of our team on Twitter. And keep in mind, you shouldn't only think of yourself as a follower, per se. Think of it also as adding value to our future auctions!
