Posted by Olivia on Tue 13/05/08 - 05:49:28 PMHey guys, glad you liked the show. I enjoyed researching it and reckon that the giant Where´s Wally should become a global game. Not just for the Canadians!!

Posted by glypo on Tue 13/05/08 - 05:17:22 PMWicked show, seriously cool. I love my computers and I love my art. Photography is my cup of tea (http://www.glypo.com - my very dull website), seriously cool show anyway. Off that someone is using Python to code on Ubuntu. I code Python on Fedora (Red Hat based Linux) but I thought Perl was the language of choice for Ubuntu (Debian based linux).

Posted by C-C on Tue 13/05/08 - 03:20:42 PMExcellent show all around! But alas, what's this? Not a peep about the missing desk? And that band of rebels from Star Wars with their sidekick Batman; where have they trotted off to? Out to source more news for Mobuzz I guess!

Posted by ollie.wally on Tue 13/05/08 - 04:42:59 PMMe too! Watching Olivia play with her toys makes me feel like 10 again. :-) Maybe they should have their own side show?! No, wait a minute - George has already got the rights for that.

Posted by Spaghetticode on Tue 13/05/08 - 03:15:08 PMKool show, Of course the internet was always going to be a hugely popular medium for art, after all it's a communication platform and what is the intent of art other than to capture a thought or an idea, to express it and to make you think about it? It allows greater access to art but for every truly great work there are thousands of dodgy pieces to be filtered out. Projects like Malwarez are interesting distractions, but are of questionable artistic worth. It's really only a form of data visualization, albeit a particularly pretty example, because there is no preconceived message (at least none I can see, if you can then let us know!). Dragulescu has taken an unusual data set and colourised it in an interesting way, and maybe that gets us to think about the technology we've created and about the digital footprint we all generate, but the message is a little weak. A far more insightful example of his artistic work is the Algorithms of the Absurd project, where he uses technology to comment both on itself and on ourselves at the same time. I love it. Check it out here: http://sq.ro/algorithmsoftheabsurd.php And that, by degrees, brings me to my point. The really exciting thing about this platform is that it changes the way we think about communication, and allows for entirely new forms of art. An old favourite of mine is SuperBad. SuperBad is a graphic artist named Ben Benjamin and although he's a bit of a one trick pony, its a great trick. His site http://www.superbad.com seems at first to be an entirely random set of linked pages, where you have to sometimes select a link at random from a large group or sometimes find the link hidden in the page. But it gets you thinking about what you're doing on the internet in the first place, and about what a strange activity this whole thing is. So computers and networks offer us the possibility of new and interactive art forms, but there's more to it than that. Think of how social media is changing the way we work, for example how Flickr pools evolve and influence one another, feeding ideas back into the community only to be reinterpreted and transformed in the next iteration. Not only are there new areas to explore, there are new tools and new communities of like minded artists to explore them with.

Posted by Sarah_Tea on Tue 13/05/08 - 05:56:57 AMI really enjoyed this Episode. I love art in general and techie art is awesome. I think it is great that Polaroid are coming out with this new tiny printer, I'm sort of pissed they discontinoued the instant film for the old polaroids. I think the "where's waldo google earth" is a great idea, and every city should have one, it will just add more time wasted! :P

Posted by zilero on Tue 13/05/08 - 05:14:59 AMI find that mobuzz has some bandwidth issues as of late... though i love the show, i usually have to press play, pause, and then wait 2-3 minutes to buffer. is this due to more regular viewers? or maybe its just for me here in canada?
