These are pictures of the old tool shed at our farm. It has burn marks on it from where the old farm house burned more than 50 years ago. I took these with my new Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital Elph camera I bought last week. I had it on the top quality setting, but had to crop them down to get them to fit here better. I changed them to black and white using Microsoft Office Picture Manager by changed the color saturation to -100.

This is from a trip we took to a different spot in North Carolina for New Year’s Eve. I took this picture around 8:00 am on 12/31/07. I have some other pictures I’ll post from late in the afternoon when we took a canoe out on this lake.

I took this picture from the deck of our cabin in Bryson City, NC at the end of the summer of 2007. I like the look of layers of mountains.

Tornado Damage Pictures in Downtown Atlanta

We went to downtown Atlanta to go to the Georgia Aquarium today with our simple 3.2 mega pixel Canon A70 and saw the damage done by the tornado that hit last night. These pictures were taken about 12 hours after the tornado hit the CNN Center, Phillips Arena, Georgia Pacific and Equitable buildings, The Westin, among others.

The Drought in Georgia - Pond Picture

Here’s a picture taken on January 7, 2008. This is of our pond on our farm in middle Georgia where we finally started getting decent rain about three weeks ago. You can see the man-made damn is about four feet above the water where it used to be just a few inches. Imagine what it was like a month earlier after experiencing the driest year in recorded history for Georgia.

The difference between now and a few weeks ago is this spring is starting to feed the pond again after being bone dry for most of the 2007.

I took this picture around 7:30 am in early January through the sunroof of my car while driving down I-75, just south of Atlanta, GA. (I know, not the safest shot, but at least I wasn’t on my cell phone too.) I thought the mixture of fog and smog made the sun and sky look really cool.

I always think these wild thistles look cool up close, but in reality they are simply weeds that take over grazing areas for the cows if not kept under control. I took this picture a couple of years ago when I was learning to use my digital camera. I don’t think I’ve advanced much since then, but maybe this blog will force me to think of my picture taking a little more. I took this picture with 3.2 mega pixel Canon PowerShot A70.

I took this picture about 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning in the early spring of 2004 after waking up early during a camping trip to our farm in middle Georgia. This is my favorite place in the world. Whenever I need to relax, I can take a 90 minute drive from Atlanta to get there and just hang out and do nothing or can work in the fields or, like on this trip, party all night with my friends. I’m sure a lot of my photographs for this blog will come from this farm.

Picture of Olympia, Greece

My wife took this picture of me while we were in Olympia, Greece in September 2000. Something about the ruins made me want to pose. Future pictures will be better, but I loved being in Olympia and thought this would be a good one to start with. She used an old automatic 35 mm camera and I scanned the picture to get it here. That helps to explain the lower quality look of it.
