A federal court today accepted a request by a group of imams to drop all claims in a federal lawsuit against “John Doe” passengers for reporting the Muslim men’s suspicious behavior, which led to their removal from a US Airways flight last year.

The lawsuit, filed in a federal court Minnesota, still targets US Airways and Minneapolis airport workers.

President Bush recently signed into law a provision that protects airline passengers who report suspicious behavior that may foreshadow terrorist attacks.

The new law would allow “John Doe” passengers who are wrongly sued to recover legal fees.
