Pee Zine #19– One of the large zines from Australia. This magazine is at the state of success due to the amazing writing and content contained within. This issue, from about six months, was able to catch Jimmy Eat World in an interview just before they totally came onto the mTV scene. Other pieces, with such established acts as dynamite boy, millencolin, and whippersnapper, all let the magazine progress with a fresh, light style of interviewing. Unlike a lot of the totally major zines, like maximum rocknroll and punk planet, Pee has no where near the level of columns that completely make a large section of the magazine unnecessary. In an interesting twist, this issue of Pee was created about the same time with at least three other zines, as all four zines have pieces about the Courtney Love/Nirvana royalty rights case. Aside from ads I’ve seen about a all-wrestling zine, this is the first serious zine to actually have any coverage of wrestling, being the main focus of a columns by The Commentator. I think Pee is about the only zine that can pull off five interviews in a row, interspersed by nothing but ads. Short reviews greet the reader of Pee at the end of the magazine, which is a plus because some reviews (notably mine) can tend to go on for a extended amount of time. This copy also came with an excellent four-song split CD with bigwig and glasseater, which will both be reviewed at a later time. As a side note, this is this first zine in a long time that I’ve received that has actually had a colour cover, which just rocks out. The only conceivable complaint that anyone could have with the zine is the semi-illegibility of the white text that is laid on black backgrounds, which occurred because the text was not large/wide enough. But that is going pretty far to find fault with the magazine, so all I can say about the magazine is buy it! $1 American Contact information : [email protected], or send snail mail to:
