Mets' Maine leaves with cramp in forearm

The Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA - Mets right-hander John Maine left Saturday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the sixth inning with a cramp in his left forearm.

Maine threw a fastball to Ryan Howard and walked off the mound holding the elbow on his non-throwing arm. He took a couple of warmup pitches and decided he couldn't continue.

Aaron Heilman came in as the emergency reliever with the score tied at 3 and no runners on base. Heilman struck out Howard to end the inning.

Maine (8-6, 3.91 ERA) allowed three runs and one hit , all on Howard's three-run homer in the fourth inning. He struck out five.
