The Next Part of the Journey

As of 22 June 2008, the Summer Solstice brings lots of new changes into my life. I have strongly felt changes coming to the Supergirl@40 blog for the past year and have been going through a lingering transition in what I post and where I post certain articles and insights. To my surprise, the transition time is suddenly done.

I am closing a major chapter of my life. For the past 3.5 years, I’ve openly shared my turbulent journey and transformation from a wounded, newly divorced mom who let everyone else’s dreams/wants/needs come first to a confident woman who is happy in her life, with or without meeting the typical expectations of the society we live in. The first 2+ years of that time can be found in the 15 volumes of the Third Degree Diaries at http://www.spilledcandybookstore.com/ThirdDegreeDiaries.html, which are available in print or as el-cheapo e-books. Much of that transformation was from journaling through my hopes and fears, through deep self-inquiry, and by constantly self-correcting/re-adjusting/re-focusing my steps on my life path. I never set out to become an essayist, but writing put some structure to the questions I needed to answer for myself and led me often to something profound by the last paragraph. For me as well as for others.

As I close this chapter and open a new one, I acknowledge all the darkness I have worked through and that, even though the ground I stand on is not necessarily more stable than any time in the past, I am better able to keep my balance atop Life’s more sudden shifts under my feet. In this next part of my journey, it’s necessary that I now share less of my personal life as openly as I have in the past. I very much appreciate all my Supergirl@40 readers and friends, but, at least for a while, I have to travel without you. This is not because I’m in a “bad place”—quite the contrary.
