Late Night Song Requests

I think we are all getting a little punchy waiting for the speech of the century to begin.

While I don't want to watch because I know it's scripted and not the real candidate but the candidate as reinvented by campaign and media professionals, how could I not?

The content of what she says is the least important part. It's not her. It's what they prepared for her to say, with a few modifications for her own personality.

Update: Oh, and Gov. Sarah Palin's aide is now refusing to be deposed in TrooperGate. First, she tries to move the investigation from the legislature to the Executive Branch (of which she's a part) and now her aide says he won't cooperate or be deposed. Stall, stall, stall. Whatever happened to "Hold me accountable." See, her words mean nothing.

So I'm trying to think of a song for our late night post. Suggestions?

This is another open thread before the speech open thread.

He's like Reagan without the charisma or the message.

In other words, full of straw men.

they weren't sure when to clap.  I think their audience is confused on some of the messages being made which tells me there is a schism in what they are trying to sell and what the faithful want to hear.  I was worried mitt might hit a homer but he served up a weak single, good news.

Everyone is saying that Palin's big speech is scripted and "not the real candidate".  Doesn't Obama script his own speeches; who knows who the real Obama is?  Much better to stick to the facts and skip the snarks about McCain-Palin.

have said that Obama is a weak debater.  Her speech was scripted and the real test will be access to the media and the debates.  I think Obama v McCain will be a wash and give McCain the slight edge.  I have no idear how well Palin will debate and I think Biden is "ok".  Obama needs to spend two weeks in intense debate practice to get rid of his "ums" and develop answers that are fluid, I thought Hillary won every debate and was surprised and shocked when the media kept giving him wins.  Palin's speech was almost entirely negative and the financial/jobs crises were not addressed.  Still predicting an 8 point win...

forward with the deposition is represented by separate counsel, I wouldn't attribute his position to the Governor.  Plus, any good attorney would fight to resolve jurisdiction first.

the delay makes imminent sense for Gov. Palin. The report is due out the week before the GE. Any delay will put the report release past the election. Even if Gov. Palin felt she was completely in the right and that the report will say that, it's an intelligent and prudent move to seek a week's delay. The report is to be prepared by a single individual, who may be prey to any number of pressures and influence.

After the election, the report is probably meaningless to any but perhaps the man who was fired.

And the attorney seeking the delay is obviously acting in his client's best interest, since a court is to rule on jurisdiction.

Hearig him reminds me of how mean and mean-spirited the Repubs. are and why Dems. lose elections: we are too nice, bending over backward at the DNC not to offend them or anyone who might be them.

Time to remember these lessons of 2000 and 2004--the too-nice Dems. outfoxed by the mean Repubs.

Anyone notice how inappropriate the audience's laughter has been at so many times, and the lack of logic throughout Huckabee--yuck, Guiliani's sarcasm just drips and disgusts.... can barely stand listening to this, and am not looking.... he has an ugly look on his face, and the cuts to his wife just remind me of past scandals; re: TV audience: Who do they think they're fooling??
