Don't let the Republicans do to Social Security what they did to the Mortgage system.  Vote Democratic.

    I did not see it.

What the hell, let's make it a theme.

    Sledgehammer.

    Over and over again.

Clever visual, uses "your family" frame.

But does the big government attack work anymore?

McCain has done some good ads but that one is pathetic. I think the whole "tax and spend" thing is beyond it's shelf life.

A miss by the McCain media shop.

in the ad is still superior.

But the message is out of step.

I don't even think this one will appeal to libertarian indies.  And that seems to be a shrinking group anyway.

and watched a McCain-Palin rally, where both of them talked about how the recent problems in the economy were caused by "greed" and "corruption."

Actually, the credit crunch and the current volatility in the markets were caused by transactions that were and are perfectly legal. There were no regulations that limited the structure of mortgage-backed securities, or the making of subprime loans.  Incompetent CEOs -- like McCain surrogate Carly Fiorina --have been rewarded with big severance packages for eons. If only the rest of us could fail upward like her. .

McCain and Palin keep yelling about "corruption" because they want the voters to think that the problem was caused by a few bad eggs, not the whole regulatory -- or rather, non-regulatory -- system designed by the Phil Gramms of the world.

The only "corruption" involved here is the revelation of corruption of the Republican view of the proper function of regulation in the financial markets.

There is corruption in the sense that these corporations hire lobbyists and cut big checks in order to make sure their highly profitable activities don't get regulated.

Democrats aren't innocent, of course.  But we know who the party of deregulation truly is.

Obama needs to run this ad in Florida again and again.

As Fla Politics has pointed out, one of the major reasons that Obama is losing Florida is that McCain is leading in the over 55 yr old demographic by a 55-39 margin.  Social security privatization is anathema to elderly Floridians.  McCain favors it.  If Obama can reduce McCain's margin with retirees, Obama can win Florida.

Why Republicans no longer care about Wall Street (none / 0) (#18)

Hasn't anybody noticed?  Wall Street financial failure, yet the Republicans are in charge?  Does that strike anybody as odd?  Not me!  The majority of stock is now held by middle class people, mostly Democrats, simply because of humongous 401(k) portfolios of retirement plans which are mainly middle-class folk.  The rich abandoned Wall Street starting in 2001.  They put their money in non-US markets, for example China.  The turd Republican who ran for Governor of Michigan two years ago spent $17 million of his own cash pretending to want to help bring jobs back to Michigan.  He lost big time, when the media revealed how significantly his family had abandoned US investment in favor of Chinese investment.  That's where the rich make their money today.  Duh!
