The Teenagers, Lissy Trullie and Heloise & the Savoir Faire at the Music Hall of Williamsburg

Wednesday night was only my second time seeing a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg (withold your scoffs), and my first time seeing The Teenagers at a real concert venue. Lissy Trullie and the Fibs opened the show, an artist whose live performances have gotten better and better each time I've seen her. Last month she rocked Santo's alongside Adam Green, The Rumble Strips, and Mark Ronson and even attracted celebrities such as Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr of Gossip Girl fame.

Next up was Brooklyn's Heloise and the Savoir Faire. Before the show, I browsed her MySpace to see what I was getting myself into but nothing prepared me for that stellar performance! Backed by a full band and two shameless acrobatic dancers, Heloise took the stage in a billowy red chiffon cape and took the crowd for a joy ride full of coordinated dance moves, theatrics, and of course that power voice. Not since seeing Lady Gaga at Le Royale in February (before The Fame) did I leave a show confident that I would be seeing more of this artist in days to come. The best way to describe her as an artist would be as the love child of Lady Gaga and Beth Ditto of the Gossip. Make sure you check out her headlining gig at Bowery Ballroom on 1/15.

Last and of course not least was the Teenagers. The boys were in typical high energy and sarcastic prose. The crowd was much younger than I'm used to (18+ ticket), needless to say when Quentin jumped into the crowd it was pretty entertaining. Those who attended Wednesday were in for a special treat as the band debuted a brand new song (Quentin had to read the lyrics off of a sheet!) After the show Dorian came by to say hi, briefly discussing their experience on the road with Vampire Weekend before heading to Asia for more touring. The new song was great, but hopefully next time they're around they'll be toting another amazing record! Check out our interview with Quentin from their last NYC visit HERE.
