A Happy Valium-Times Day With Heloise & The Savoir Faire

I was first exposed to Heloise & the Savoir Faire's live set when they supported The Teenagers at the Music Hall of Williamsburg along with TLC staple Lissy Trullie in December. At the time I was truly captivated by Heloise's incredible voice and the over-the-top theatrical stage presence of the show as a whole.

After their short UK trek earlier this year, Heloise & the Savoir Faire returned to NYC in time for the Valentine's Valium-times Day celebration at Le Poisson Rouge last Friday. Before taking the stage we chatted, or rather laughed our asses off along, with HASF (stay tuned!)

Lights of Old Navy fame opened up the show with her toothache-inducing brand of pop which I quite frankly could have done without. Fast forward a bit to Heloise and the Savoir Faire...

Heloise made a dramatic entrance in her signature high-collared red chiffon cape and red sequined body suit after 1AM, for a stellar set that made everyone forget that they were supposed to be depressed on this Hallmark occasion.

From beginning to end the show was an amazingly fast paced blur of sequins, glitter, laughter, surging endorphins, pumping fists, and undeniable talents. Set list highlights included the down tempo anthem Trash, Rats and Microphones and spirited Odyle.

In a world of packaged goods, it's so inspiring and refreshing to see such a fearless talent take the stage with the sole purpose of having fun. Make sure you check out Heloise & the Savoir Faire this Friday at the South Street Seaport in NYC, you will thank me later!
