ThaBombShelter's Wedding Mix

While the big day is still a few days away, I wanted to share the following songs with you all while I had a chance. As some of you may know, Emily and I have been engaged since May 5, 2007, and this saturday, June 14th, 2008, we will become husband and wife. After the ceremony we'll be heading off to Key West for a week of relaxation, umbrella drinks, and linen pants. But before we jet south for our week in the sun, we'll be having a blast at our reception. Of course we didn't hire a DJ, I mean, come on, we have awesome taste in music, so we decided to fill up an iPod and just pipe our own music through the sound system. Also, as a gift to our lovely friends and family, we put together the following mix CD (complete with the cover art above created by yours truly from photos taken on that fateful night at the doves concert almost three years ago!). We're both really proud of the mix (I've listened to it more times than I'd care to admit), and I hope you all enjoy it as well. I'll be back Monday the 23rd, and hopefully now that wedding stuff is wrapping up, I'll be able to tackle the reviews that are piling up in my noggin (The Fratellis, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, and a special John Henry spot are all milling about up there).

So have fun, listen to the tunes and enjoy your stay!

"The Cedar Room" Doves
"True Love Waits" Radiohead
"Kingdom of the Animals" Iron & Wine
"Dance with Me, Now Darling" Hem
"Within You" Ray LaMontagne
"The Dress Looks Nice on You" Sufjan Stevens
"Naked as We Came" Iron & Wine
"Gold" Interference
"Eloise" Claude Francoise
"How Long Do I Have to Wait for You?" Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings
"Gamble Everything for Love" Ben Lee
"I Will Follow You Into the Dark" Death Cab for Cutie
"Challengers" The New Pornographers
"Ether Song" Turin Brakes
"Hallelujah" Jeff Buckley
"Heavenly Waters" British Sea Power

***UPDATE 6-21-08***

Well, Emily and I have been officially married for a week, and to avoid any kind of DMCA issues, I've decided to take down the wedding mix files.  If you stumble upon this page at some point after today, feel free to send me an email and I might be able to make some magic happen.  Thanks to all the well-wishers that have stopped by, and I hope everyone that's had a chance to listen to this mix has enjoyed it!

Very best wishes for the big day.

I'm sure your guests will enjoy your mix as much as I have.

Hi Harry, awesome mix and a great gift idea for the guests from a music lover. The DJ has to be a thing of the past when an iPod can do a better job. If you want something done right do it yourself eh? That reminds me of the Larry Davis iPod Experience 'band' that Bart and Lisa had at their prom in one of the Simpsons future episodes.
Good luck with the wedding, I look forward to your posts when you return.
Brad.

Thank you all so much! Glad everyone is enjoying it :-D

And you're absolutely right, Brad, why leave the important task of MUSIC at my reception to some unqualified HACK who owns a lot of crap CDs.
