CITIES TO REAP GAS TAX REVENUE PERMANENTLY

The federal government has quietly to agreed make the transfer of gas tax revenue to municipalities permanent, according to Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon.Without any fanfare, the federal Conservatives committed themselves to the extension of the measure, which was due to expire in 2014, when their members voted on Thursday for an opposition motion calling for the transfer to be made permanent.
