Bass music's new monster

T2

Yet another music genre has emerged from the UK. After Dubstep, D&B, Grime, 2-Step and Garage, here's the newest sound to take over Britain: Bassline or Niche. It is hugely popular over there already. The song Heartbroken made it to #2 on the charts. But it is still fairly unknown to the rest of the world. It was first heard in Sheffield which is a town in the north part of England, just north of Nothingham. It sounds like fast garage with chopped up R&B vocals. 140 BPM seems to be the standard speed. Anyways, it is pretty refreshing to hear something else than the ubiquitous electro that's all over the blogs (including this one). So here are 2 tracks from Bassline's #1 ambassador T2.

Cheeksta -Baby (T2 Remix) [Promotional version]

Trouble and Bass

On this side of the Atlantic, BK's heavy bass crew/label Trouble & Bass have been paying close attention to everything that's going on in the UK bass music culture, inviting some of the most exciting artists to their parties. But more interestingly, they've been producing their own stuff which happens to be really good. To learn more about these guys, check out their blog. Here's two remixes from Starkey who, in my opinion, is their brightest affiliate.

Pacheko - BiPolar Bear (Starkey Remix) [removed on demand of the label]

Izz Thizz - Gas Skrape (Starkey Remix)
