These kids and their crazy band names. I just heard about one called Dog on Fleas. Hmm…that’s an angle I must admit I’ve never considered. Maybe all these centuries the fleas haven’t been getting on the dogs, but rather it’s been the other way around in a perverse symbiotic relationship.
It’s easy to see what the fleas get out of the deal – a place to live. But what about the dogs? Conversation?
Never mind. The whole point is the Abington Art Center will be transformed into a kid-centered art extravaganza culminating with an evening kid’s rock concert by Dog on Fleas. Ah ha! See? I’m not entirely random. It all goes down Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 5:30 pm, with the music getting underway at 6:30 pm.
There will be glitter, glitz and three artful workshops for the youngsters to participate in: t-shirt painting, tile painting, and fanciful hat making. Admission to the event is free but there is a nominal fee for the workshops, ranging from $2-$5 each, or you can have all three for $10. The Kid Fest has been picking up more steam with each passing year and they expect another wild night this time around for kids of all ages.
On its 27-acre Philadelphia campus, the Abington Art Center dedicates itself to providing opportunities for their many audiences to experience, appreciate, and participate in the arts at whatever level they choose. From preschool to lifelong learners, casual observers to art enthusiasts, the Center engages visitors, artists, and students with its sculpture park, gallery exhibitions, studio art classes, and public programs.
