hField Technologies has just launched an unified version of the Wi-Fire, a compact high-performance long-range USB WiFi Adapter. Wi-Fire now uses the same hardware for Mac, Windows XP and Vista - with the same outstanding performance. WiFi users can now easily use the Wi-Fire with a Mac, via Parallels, and on Windows platforms by installing the correct software on each machine.
With its high gain directional antenna and extremely strong receive sensitivity, this all new Wi-Fire now gives Mac and Windows users the freedom to connect to WiFi networks when they want, where they want using the same Wi-Fire. Users benefit from the increased mobility and greater range with faster speeds in comparison to other standard WiFi adapters.
As before, Wi-Fire provides interoperability with any 802.11 b/g access point and multiplies the effectiveness of wireless networks by allowing users to connect to a WiFi network from up to 1,000 feet - more than three times the range of Airport - often at significantly higher speeds, and even in locations where no wireless signal could be detected previously.
Wi-Fire, only 3 inches by 4 inches and a sleek 3/8-inch thick, is small, easy-to-use, and folds up with its mounting device and USB cable for portability.
Retail price for Wi-FireTM is $79.00 and is available now at http://www.hfield.com/buynow and participating retailers.
hField launched Wi-Fire for Mac in August to rave reviews http://www.hfield.com/news/wifire_inthenews.htm. The company expects the new universal hardware version to be met with equal excitement. "Wi-Fire is the perfect device - light weight and easy to use - for the seriously mobile Vista user and those who have problems connecting to their regular wireless network because of distance, obstacles or other interference," said Tom DiClemente, hField's CEO. "We're dedicated to empowering people to connect better, faster and more economically."
A Linux version is in development.

in my hostel there wi-fi connection, but hardly to connect, then i decided to download ashampoo windows optimizer, and optimize my WLAN connection and then after restart i get the connection until now for about a week..longest time ever i get connection... but do it have relation with i optimize using ashampoo?
:D
hi, this is a hardware based wifi extender. if you have low signal strength, this will help boost the strength. it is not software, so if you had a problem connecting before, it may have been a software problem.
ashampoo helped with that, but if you have very slow speed, or dropping signal, then a wifi extender will help.
also wil lhewlp if you want to take the laptop further away from the router, and have more range to be wireless.
thx!
Cat5 extender allows you to extend using regular & inexpensive Cat5e or Cat6 UTP cable. These extenders include local & remote units.
