Vemma - cold processed or hot fill

Liquid supplements have two different methods for processing. “Hot fill” means the liquid is heated at a high temperature, and poured into the bottle hot, then allowed to remain hot until it cools down on it’s own. That may sound harmless, but these are a few of the problems associated with exposing nutritional food to high heat over time:

There are also some recent discoveries that raise another potential issue surrounding heat processing.

Dr Yibing Wang, the Research Director at Vemma reports this issue:

Aside from these obvious negatives, another potential issue surrounding heat processing has come to light. During investigations relating to the review of a petition for the use of irradiation in certain foods, FDA scientists identified the substance furan in foods processed during traditional heat treatment techniques, such as cooking, jarring, and canning. The presence of furan is a potential concern because high levels of this compound have been linked to liver cancer in animals. The FDA will investigate if very low levels of furan found in certain heated foods can harm humans and much more research needs to be conducted before any firm conclusions can be made.

Vemma uses the cold fill processing method for the Vemma products, which enables them to retain the nutritional value in the products, and also maintain taste and color integrity.
