Partners include Yahoo,Twitter

MySpace is launching what it calls the MySpace "Data Availability" initiative that will allow users to share their information with a number of partner sites.

MySpace Launches Data Availability

The social network is launching its "Data Availability" initiative with Yahoo, eBay, Photobucket, and Twitter some time in the coming weeks. Users will have control over what information they share and who they share it with.

MySpace users will be able to update their profile in one place and share that information with other sites. MySpace will be introducing a centralized location within the site that allows users to mange how their content and data is made available to third party sites.

Users will be able to share basic profile information, photos, videos, and friend networks. Users will be able to decide if they want to opt out of the Data Availability effort.

MySpace said it is also joining the Data Portability Project to continue its commitment to open standards.

"The walls around the garden are coming down-the implementation of Data Availability injects a new layer of social activity and creates a more dynamic Internet," said Chris DeWolfe, CEO and co-founder of MySpace.

"We, alongside our Data Availability launch partners, are pioneering a new way for the global community to integrate their social experiences Web-wide."
