Google? Domination? Sounds like the ol'ma'bell syndrome!
Why in the world would anyone be happy about Google dominating anything? At least here in the U.S., there are supposed to be laws that prohibit a monopoly, which Google seems to have well in hand. Just ask Bill Gates. How many years and how much money did he and Microsoft have to spend to battle the U.S. Government.
So, Google, what gives you the right to "dominate" anything?
I'm not against Google, though it may seem that way. Instead, I feel the need for Google to be set into place, much like the old AT&T of the early 70's. Through the advanced technology and R&D dollars Google spends to dominate different markets of our global economy, they are in-effect, stifling the possibility of any competition. If you don't believe that, then wait till Google signs their deal with Verizon. Someone down the line is going to pay the bill for Google's domination.
It won't be Verizon, or any other conglomerate that Google courts into thier grasp. It will be you and I. And, of course the governments of the world will turn a blind eye as they'll have been bought off (through campaign contributions, of course) and we'll still be the one to foot the bill.
Just my take -- let Google be subject to the same anti-trust and anti-monoply laws that AT&T and Microsoft are subject too.
It's about time!
I'm all for the Android platform. Reason being is that the internet on a mobile phone is limited. In most cases there's no flash or silverlight capabilities. Phones of the past gave you a watered down internet until the conception of the iphone, which woke up the major phone carriers. I guess we can thank the iphone for stepping up and creating a new bar for cell phone carriers.
