YouTube Leaps Into the Real World

With a Variety Show

YouTube announced today that they are hosting a live event in San Francisco on November 22, appropriately titled, "YouTube Live". The event will be some kind of concert/variety show hybrid, and will revolve around so called Youtube "phenomenon".

If you are interested, but can't make it to San Francisco, you're in luck because they're streaming it live on YouTube. They've created a channel specifically for the event (where you can also learn more about it.

Live performances and special guests will include Akon, Soulja Boy Tell'em, Will.I.Am, Planet B-Boy, Beardyman, Esmee Denters, Sick Puppies, LisaNova, Funtwo, Michael Buckley, William Sledd, Julia Nunes, Mythbusters, Tay Zonday, and Mike Relm. Sponsors for the event include Guitar Hero, Lionsgate, and Virgin America.

In other YouTube news, they're starting to show commercials in videos. You can read about that here. I wouldn't be surprised to see ads for this event start appearing in their rotation.
