Hank Aaron Stadium and Hank Aaron's Childhood Home

The Mobile, Ala., childhood home of home run slugger Hank Aaron is being donated to the city of Mobile and will then be moved next to Hank Aaron Stadium, home of the Mobile BayBears (Arizona Diamondbacks Double-A affiliate), where it will be turned into a museum.

The home is modest and, according to this AP article, has an interesting history, providing some insight as to where Hammerin’ Hank got his workmanlike ethic:

“His parents, Estella and Herbert Aaron, both deceased, had eight children and refused to move even when their famous “Hammerin’ Hank” bought them another house in Mobile.

Aaron recalled his father bought two acres and struggled to build his home with salvaged boards and bricks while working in the port city’s shipyards. Back then, the narrow road in front of the house was unpaved and had a big ditch out front, Aaron said at a news conference.

“Only three bedrooms, with eight kids,” Aaron recalled. “I had to be humble. My mother insisted on my being that way.”

Prob shouldn’t post pictures of co workers or friends drinkig as it projects the wrong image and condones social drug use which myself and many other feel is the wrong image for our young people, clients and potential clients.
