Jakatta, (ANTARA News) - The police will continue to hunt 14 of the 20 Islam Defenders Front (FPI) members implicated in last Sunday`s Monas Square incident who are still on the run, a spokesman said.

"Six of the 20 FPI militants have been arrested and we are still hunting the remaining 14, including `Islamic Legion Commander` Munarman," National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Abu Bakar Nataprawira said here on Thursday.

He said police had a video tape which constituted preliminary evidence that the 20 FPI members were involved in Sunday`s violence that left more than 70 people injured.

"We have named the 20 men suspects but the number will probably increase," Nataprawira said.

He also called on Munarman and the 13 other FPI members still at large to immediately surrender to the police.

"It is better for them to surrender immediately because wherever they go, the police will continue to hunt them," he said, adding that members of the public were expected to report to the police if they knew Munarwan`s and his colleagues` whereabouts.

Meanwhile, FPI lawyer Ari Yusuf Amir also called on Munarwan to immediately give himself up to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters.

"I don`t know Munarwan`s whereabouts either," Ari Yusuf Amir said, adding that Jakarta Metropolitan Police had arrested seven FPI members, including FPI leader Habib Rizieq.

Habib Rizieq and six FPI members were named suspects and arrested by the Jakarta Police for Sunday`s incident at the National Monument (Monas) in central Jakarta.

FPI members attacked activists of the National Alliance for Freedom of Religion and Faith (AKKBB), a supporter of Ahmadiyah which Muslims consider to be a deviant sect.

FPI leader Habib Rizieq Shihab`s arrest prompted former President Abdurraham Wahid, popularly known as Gus Dur, to express his gratitude to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"And I will be more grateful if FPI is dissolved," Gus Dur said at a press conference here on Thursday.
