Jakarta: The General Elections Commission (KPU) predicted low public participation for the 2009 election, as is evident for the regional leaders election.

According to KPU's head Abdul Hafiz Anshary, the public has been tired of and disappointed with political leaders. “It is also caused by the lack of publicizing the election,” he said today (6/6).

KPU asks the entire Indonesia to support publicizing so the 2009 election can run well. “This is important as there will be a new way of voting for the 2009 election,” said Hafiz.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked that the publicizing go well as it will influence the election.

The President also said that it will help the election from false or ghost voters. “Publicizing will encourage people to use their voting rights.” The President said that the monitoring is also important in order to have a qualified election.
