Semarang, (ANTARA News) - A total of 17 new political parties in Central Java have passed factual verification test to join next year`s general election, provincial General Election Commission (KPU) chairperson Fitriyah said here on Wednesday.
According to her, the provincial KPU had discussed the result of the verification test in a plenary meeting and decided that the 17 parties were eligible to compete in the 2009 general election.
Fitriyah pointed out that the 17 parties were People`s Conscience Party, National People`s Concern Party, Greater Indonesia Movement Party, Indonesian Youth Party, United National Democratic Party, National Sun Party, My Indonesian Republic Party, Reform Democratic Party, Indonesian People`s Fortress National Party, Patriot Party, Clerical National Awakening Party, Workers` Struggle Party, National Front Party, Indonesia in Diversity Party, 1945 Indonesian Christian Party, Indonesian Prosperous Party, and Peoples` Struggle Democratic Party.
She said the 17 new political parties underwent the verification test at provincial level on June 9-10, 2008, and were declared eligible to join the next year general election.
