Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A fugitive allegedly involved in the incident at the National Monument (Monas) square on June 1, 2008, was arrested in Cirebon, West Java, on Friday morning.

The Jakarta Police`s spokesman, Senior Commissioner Ketut Untung Yoga Ana, said here Friday the suspect had now arrived at the General Criminal Research Directorate of the Jakarta Police.

"The suspect, identified as M, is one of 20 fugitives allegedly involved in the Monas incident," he said.

The Monas incident involved masses from the Islam Defenders` Front (FPI) and the National Alliance for Freedom of Religion and Faith (AKKBB).

In the incident, FPI members attacked a peaceful rally of AKKBB activists causing dozens of people to sustain injuries.

FPI chairman Habib Rizieq, the head of the FPI`s "Islamic Legion", Munarman, and seven other FPI members are currently in the custody of the Jakarta Police headquarters to account for their actions.

Munarman, who went into hiding after the June 1 incident, surrendered to the police on Monday (June 9) after the government issued a decree to stop the activities of the controversial Ahmadiyah religious sect.

In a statement issued while he was still in hiding, Munarman said he would only give himself up if Ahmadiyah was disbanded.
