Jakarta: Former deputy chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), Muchdi Purwopranjon, was arrested by the police at 7.30pm last night (19/6).

TEMPO witnessed Muchdi taken by the police in a silver Kijang Innova, Number B 1349 TZ.

Muchdi arrived at the investigation and criminal section at Indonesian police headquarters, accompanied by the head of the analyst bureau, Matius Salempang and other investigators. Head of investigation and criminal action, Bambang Hendarso Danuri, got there later.

Earlier, in a meeting with Commission III at the House of Representatives (DPR), Bambang Hendarso announced a new suspect planning the murder of human rights activist Munir.

“We have enough evidence, in the framework of judicial reason. We will charge him for breaking Article 55 and Article 340 in the Criminal Code,” said Bambang Hendarso Danuri.
