Because of this, the proposal to implement interpellation rights failed. The DPR decision was made through open voting. Voting results showed that 233 DPR members supported the Right of Inquiry.

They came from the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle, United Development Party, National Mandate Party, National Awakening Party, Prosperous Justice Party, Pioneer Star Democratic Party, Reform Star Party, and Prosperous Peace Party factions.

127 other members from the Democratic Party and Golkar Party factions rejected the Right of Inquiry.

However, the DPR Defense Commission Yuddy Chrisnandi and Golkar Chairman Priyo Budi Santoso stated that their factions would be consistent and support interpellation rights.

“What can we do? We respect the plenary session.”

DPR Speaker Agung Laksono stated firmly that with this voting result, the implementation of the Right of Inquiry was a DPR decision.

“We have settled that the Right of Inquiry is the DPR’s prerogative,” said Agung in the assembly yesterday.

According to PDI-P Head Tjahjo Kumolo, a successful Right of Inquiry could be a means of impeaching the President.


However, Agung Laksono stated that there were no such plans.
