Hollywood actress Uma Thurman has announced her engagement to multi-millionaire financier Arpad Busson. The Kill Bill star has been dating Busson, former partner of supermodel Elle Macpherson and said to be worth £136 million, for the past year.

The happy couple shared their news with friends at Sir Elton John's White Tie and Tiara ball in Windsor. Her engagement ring is said to be an eight-carat diamond surrounded by 20 smaller stones.

The New York Daily News, which first reported the story, quoted a friend as saying it is so big "she can't fit it through the sleeve of her coat". Another friend told People magazine: "It's the most beautiful piece I've ever seen. Arki did a wonderful job." Thurman's spokesman later confirmed the engagement. The couple are said already to be planning their wedding.
