NEVERMORE Guitarist JEFF LOOMIS' Solo Album: Mixing Complete - May 13, 2008
Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE) ahs finished mixing the solo album from NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis, according to a posting on the band's official forum. The CD was recorded at the Robert Lang Studios in Richmond Beach, Washington with Mark Arrington (ex-NEVERMORE) handling the drums. The ambitious offering is "an all-instrumental effort [that] is destined to shed some much deserved spotlight on the genre's most notable, yet unsung, guitar player," according to a press release.

Loomis previously said: "Mark completed the drums for 10 tracks in about three and a half days. He did some incredible drum work that I know will bring this record to a higher level than I expected.

"Mark and I worked before back in 1993-94 when he played half the songs on our [NEVERMORE's] debut CD.

"Being able to do this entire recording with Neil is really amazing as well. We've done some great work in the past, but being able to focus on an entire instrumental record is going to be great.

Video footage of Jeff Loomis shredding it up in March at the Schecter booth at the Musikmesse Frankfurt 2008 fair in Frankfurt, Germany can be viewed below (courtesy of "MaryJana666").

NEVERMORE is currently working on material for the follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor", tentatively early 2009 via Century Media Records.

NEVERMORE last year parted ways with guitarist Steve Smyth due to "personal and business differences."

During Smyth's time away from the touring circuit (Smyth was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure in 2006 and hadn't toured with the band in over a year), NEVERMORE had been utilizing the services of longtime session guitarist Chris Broderick (JAG PANZER, now in MEGADETH).

NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane has just released his solo debut, "Praises to the War Machine", in North America via Century Media Records.

That video is pretty sweet. Jeff Loomis, no matter how much praise he receives will always be underrated. I wish he had attempted to sing in a few of the songs on his solo album but I'm sure it will still be awesome.

NP: Warrel Dane's "Praises to the War Machine" one of the top 5 albums of the year so far.

This will be great... Loomis of course doesn't get anywhere near the credit he should, but with Warrel already putting out a good release, I'm expecting this to top that. Jeff's guitarwork is amazing.

He is a fucking amazing guitar player and he was just the nicest guy in the world when I met him. He can't get enough success as far as I'm concerned. Guitar God, indeed!

Is God. No one can chunk harder and solo faster, both with amazing precision and emotion. There are amazing rhythm guitarists, there are amazing shredders, but Jeff is both.

Jeff is awesome, his playing has so much heart and soul in it. You can tell he doesn't play shit to show how technical he can be; he plays with feeling and that is something I admire very much.

and I'll say it again.....

Jeff Loomis is absolutley the best all around guitar player out there today. Underated is an understatement because honestly he might be the best guitar player ever! Probably will never be as famous or well known as some but definately 2nd to none. Kinda like the late Cris Olivia.

He is a super nice guy too as mentioned. I met him walking around during the 2005 Gigantour and he couldn't be more humble and down to earth.

Can't wait to hear this. Hopefully this album will open up some eyes and ears to his amazing talent!

I think of people like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and yes, Jeff Loomis. I'm glad his solo album is all instrumental, this will be one of the best (if not the best) guitar albums ever. Loomis is a master, that's why I chose his model Schecter. I only hope I can one day play it as well as he can.

Jeff is a great guy and a great guitarist - I'm glad to see he is finally getting some larger-scale recognition. Warrel's solo CD is brilliant, and I expect the same from Jeff!

Right on, Cris Olivia... another unrecognized, amazing guitarist that was killed by some stupid idiot.
