Sumpter Valley Railroad

Posted by Roger

My 4th of July trip to Sumpter, Oregon hope you like my photo and illustrations,
oh and when I was a kid I never had a cool train set.

Where is locomotive 19? I asked a stranger in the village of Sumpter, he toss his head in a direction down threw the woods. I hurried on down there, the steam whistle "WOO WOO" looking ahead I could see glimpse of her shiny black body clouds of steam rolling up, click click click goes the camera...

Where is this place you ask?

At the Sumpter Valley railroad station.

Where is the Sumpter Valley Railroad station?

It's by Baker City, Oregon.

How old is the train station?

It is a 118 year old train station.

Can you still ride on it?

Sure there is a Saturday and Sunday schedule also open on holidays and special occasion and oh oh TRAIN ROBBERIES staged by the Powder River Pistolerros "WOO WOO"!

If you would like to see more info on this place here is the website

That's a shame you never had a nice train set. We had a HUGE platform set up in the finished basement when I was a kid. Even had a nascar race track on it. Wish I had pictures of it.

Great shot! Hope you have a great Monday.

We'll be taking a train ride on the Hiawassee river later this month. Hubby has a "thang" about trains... He turns into a 12 year old around trains...LOL!

These photo's just made that song pop into my head! Very nice Roger! I am sorry you didn't have a train when you grew up. Its never to late though, and I think you should think about getting one in your future. I think it would give you great joy. Hugs Roger! :-)
