I think I like the hot dog levels better. :)

Why not?

Those colors make as much sense and are ans obvious and understandable as the current ones. I never can remember if moving from orange to yellow is good or bad. :o(

At least in the days I was in the military the threat levels (DEFense CONdition - DEFCON) were easily understood. DEFCON 5 was absolute peacetime, DEFCON 1 we were essentially at war.

Why stupid colors instead of understandable numbers or letters? (1-5 or A-E) Who's brilliant idea was it to say we are at condition orange, and who quickly understands how much better or worse blue is compared to green?

Bah!

Rococco. Unbelievable.

God forbid the defenders of freedom actually use a French term.

Is Rococco a color? (I don't think so). I just thought it was a style. How about "Sanguine" instead?

"snorkel azure" ? Of the billions of Google pages this colour appears just ten times. That makes it rather obscure and therefore perfect for the HDS.

I was about to agree that "Rococco" was both misspelled and not a colour, but after a little digging I found this:

Pantone’s Color Pick for 2008? Rococco Red!

That being said I like Jeff's "Sanguine" suggestion for the top level: "Let there be Blood!" or "Don't worry be happy!" Both work....

Is it just me or has DHS not been monkeying with the threat level every 10 minutes? Or is it just that the media don't care anymore?

How about Red Herring?
