She looks adorable. Are they wet?

Shannon's note: Looks like it was raining and they got wet coming from the car.

Posted by: Jess at Apr 6, 2008 2:13:38 AM

All things considered, she looks great. She has finally popped after looking seriously tiny for a while. It's nice to see her happy and smiling and out with Casey. It may not be the perfect situation, but I'm glad they've both seemingly stepped up thus far and have been handling this with alot of dignity. I wish them nothing but the best and all the luck in the world to go along with a happy, healthy baby.

why are they all wet?

So weird how sometimes you can tell she's pregnant and others she just looks as she did before she got pregnant.

They seem happy!

Why are they all wet? It looks like they walked through a sprinkler. heehee

Posted by: Kimber Christian at Apr 6, 2008 3:14:41 AM

I know she is only 16, or just 17 now, but she looks really happy and pretty stable and put together. Hope it continues for her.

They both look so happy - what a tiny bump.
Who can say what age is right to have children - my mum and sister both had children young and it didnt ruin their lives. Jamie Lynn and Casey have both been honest that this was not planned and are clearly going to do everything they can to make it work - at the end of the day it doesn't matter how old you are - most important thing is that children know they are loved!!!

They look so happy together!
I hope she had a nice evening and that she got to enjoy her day out.

good to see her looking happy!
She hardly looks pregnant!
I wish her good luck! Babies are always a blessing even if they aren't planned!

Posted by: tippy at Apr 6, 2008 7:37:27 AM

I am happy for her. Her birthday sounds low-key. I read she went to Ruby Tuesday's. Good choice!
It has to be rough under the media glare but I think she has held her own well.

Posted by: Laura at Apr 6, 2008 7:42:05 AM

Now how are you going to explain how small she is carrying when she isn't as tall as Nicole Kidman? Maybe her age?

Posted by: Ivey at Apr 6, 2008 8:39:59 AM

Happy Birthday, Jamie Lynn!

Casey and she look so happy! And I agree with what a lot of other people have said - - she seems to be handling this with grace and maturity that is beyond her young years.

Posted by: Gabrielle at Apr 6, 2008 8:54:30 AM

I think Jamie Lynn looks great and should be proud of herself for taking on such a huge responsibility. I wish her nothing but the best of luck! I hope she learns from this and raises her child well.

Posted by: Nikki at Apr 6, 2008 9:02:39 AM

Good shot of the engagement ring there! I don't have anything negative to say I just hope the baby is well cared for and we don't see the circus that surrounded Britney happen again!

Posted by: Dazzlar at Apr 6, 2008 9:22:03 AM

They both look really happy! Jamie Lynn looks beautiful as always. Best of luck to those two, their baby will be beautiful!

Posted by: chelsea at Apr 6, 2008 9:36:31 AM

She sure isn't showing very much. Maybe in a side shot she would. She looks healthy and happy.

Posted by: Carol at Apr 6, 2008 10:00:19 AM

I truly wish this little girl a happy and healthy pregnancy and I respect her decision to keep her baby but I also (and I am probably in the minority) wish that pictures of her would not be posted. Personally, I am uncomfortable with the continued publicizing of Jamie Lynn Spears by the tabloids.

Sarah's note: That's fine and we respect your opinion. When photos of her first came out, we posted a reader poll asking how readers would like us to present her pregnancy on the site. 64% said to treat it like any other pregnancy, so that is what we have done.

Posted by: Ellen at Apr 6, 2008 10:12:57 AM

Her shirt is from HollisterCo but it is no longer avaliable

Posted by: Jane at Apr 6, 2008 10:16:08 AM

It is refreshing to read the postive comments on this post. Jamie Lynn has been ridiculed by so many other magazines and websites. I agree that it does not seem like the ideal situation for her, but who are we to judge? I know so many ADULTS who are unfit parents! I am beginning to really believe that age doesn't necessarily matter as much as people think. My parents were barely 18 when I was born and they have always been great parents. I know that my grandparents helped at first but both of my parents really stepped up to the plate and I have no complaints about how I was raised. I am 31 now and my parents are still together! Anyhow, I wish Jamie Lynn all the health and happiness in the world. I truly hope that all goes well for her!

Posted by: HeatherR at Apr 6, 2008 10:24:31 AM

Are we SURE she's pregnant? She's got like...no tummy o_O

Posted by: Lynsey at Apr 6, 2008 11:09:18 AM

It's nice to see her smiling. The paparazzi take a lot of unflattering shots of her doing mundane things. Of the all of the sites posting her photos, this site doesn't post every single one of her like the others do. It's good to note that Jamie-Lynn herself refrains from being in the spotlight, even moving away from Hollywood. That speaks volumes. I am one who likes to see the progress of her pregnancy. I was built like her with my first pregnancy and didn't really pop until I was about 6 months along.

Posted by: Victoria at Apr 6, 2008 11:25:24 AM

She's looking like my cousin did when she was pregnant. My cousin was like 17 while she was pregnant. She looked so small throughout the whole pregnancy and then I saw the pics of when she had her baby boy and she popped out to the size you would expect. She will probably do the same.

She does look very happy now. I read reports that she was so confused at first and upset. Now she's figured out what she wants it seems. I think she'll be a good mother.

AS A MOM TO TEENAGE GIRLS, I ALSO DO NOT THINK TEEN PREGNANCY SHOULD BE IDOLIZED. BUT I DO HAVE TO AGREE THAT JAIME IS BEING A VERY GOOD "ROLE MODEL" PERSAY AS TO BEING VERY RESPONSIBLE FOR HER ACTIONS UP TO THIS POINT. I ADMIRE HER COURAGE TO COME FORTH IN THIS DIFFICULT SITUATION, AND TO BE ALLOWING HER FANS TO SEE THAT SHE IS HUMAN... NOT JUST ANOTHER PRETTY FACE TV STAR.
I ALSO HOPE AND PRAY THAT SHE DOES NOT GET MESSED UP WITH THE PRESS THE WAY THAT BRITNEY DID, AND HAVE THE PAPARRAZZI PRETTY MUCH RUIN HER LIFE.
JAIME, YOU ARE A BRAVE SOUL. AND I AM GLAD THAT YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE AND THAT YOU CONFRONTED THIS NEW LIFE HEAD ON INSTEAD OF HIDING IT AWAY. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND CASEY!

Posted by: suzi at Apr 6, 2008 12:11:24 PM

Ivey and Mandy I agree. Jamie Lynn is almost as small as Nicole Kidman (even in the other pics). People tend to generalize pregnancy when everyone's experience is different. Not all tall women look so small through out their pregnancy like Nicole, Heidi Klum was clearly showing at this stage in her pregnancy and she is tall. Jamie is no where near as tall and she looks like she is only 3 months. Every pregnancy is different, I just wish people would stop saying height is the reason (for small bellies) when it probably only plays a tiny role in how big a woman gets.

Posted by: LolaCola at Apr 6, 2008 12:35:00 PM

Glad to see she enjoyed her b-day. She deserves to be happy, just like anyone else.

Posted by: chris at Apr 6, 2008 1:15:53 PM

I was much the same (ah the good old days) and didn't need maternity clothes until the last couple months. I bet she'll pop out a bit more soon. Good to see them trying to keep things low key and normal.

Posted by: Leslie at Apr 6, 2008 2:06:47 PM

pics of Jamie Lynn from the side show a bigger bump than this one does. She looks about 5 months to me in the side view pics I have seen. I think within the next month she will really pop out there. I looked exactly like her when I was first pregnant with my daughter and at about 6-7 months I suddenly popped! Up until 5 months I didn't even really need lots of maternity clothes. Jamie Lynn looks like she is wearing her regular clothing still...that shirt is from Hollister. They do look very happy together and I bet their baby will be beautiful.

Posted by: tink1217 at Apr 6, 2008 2:11:55 PM

I think she is handling this with grace and class. I also think she is stunning, very pretty!

I personally love that you all are keeping us up to date with her and showing her pictures. The truth is, she's a pregnant teen. There are many pregnant teens out there and I don't think we should ignore Jamie Lynn.

I wish her the best of luck! I know I will buy whatever magazine she is in with pictures of that beautiful baby.

i don't understand why people are upset about these posts about jamie lynn.
keisha castle-hughes was the same age when she was pregnant and nobody had a problem with posts about her.

jamie lynn looks great btw:D

I wish them all the luck...they have a tough road in front of them...but then again, what mom doesn't? I had my first child when I was 17 and my husband (boyfriend at the time) was 18...wasn't easy, but 12 years later, we are doing great and have added two more to our brood :-) As a Christian I know we should have been married first...but I don't judge others on the choices they make, becuase we all have to live with the choices we make...
Hopefully she will be an awesome mom with a happy healthy child :-)

I'm really unsure why people get so into why some people "pop" & why others don't. I'm average sized, but no one even knew I was pregnant until the end of September...I was due the first week of December. When I was 6 weeks away from my due date, family members complained that I didn't look pregnant at all, because they also wanted me to "pop" by then. I didn't need different pants until maybe month 6, I wore regular tops & such my entire pregnancy. I didn't even own but maybe 3 maternity tops. I doubt it has anything to do with age or even height in many cases, but just that every body handles a pregnancy differently.

On X17 they have a better side shot of her belly and she definitely looks a lot bigger in their shot than she does on the shots on Just Jared.

Posted by: Heather at Apr 6, 2008 6:10:57 PM

So weird how sometimes you can tell she's pregnant and others she just looks as she did before she got pregnant----

I know Ericka, I was thinking the same thing, maybe it's cause of the frontal view, but she certainly looked more pregnant in the last set of pics. I think baby bellies are funny that way. I see my friends bellies do the same thing:)

Posted by: coffeygirlb at Apr 6, 2008 6:14:02 PM

I wish people would be more open-minded about teenage pregnancy. Its a very common thing nowadays and though, yes sometimes not ideal, people manage. For people like Jamie-Lynn it is much easier when they have a lot of money behind them, i fully beleive their child will be very well cared for. Im 17 and have a 17 month old son. The age you are when you have a child has nothing to do with how much you love them or how much you care for them. My Son means the world to me. I feel people who judge me are very narrow minded, especially those who have no idea about my individual situation.

Posted by: Sophee at Apr 6, 2008 6:46:01 PM

Glad to see the two of them looking so happy together. They're all wet because we've had some thunderstorms passing through these past few days.

Posted by: jennifer at Apr 6, 2008 6:52:30 PM

I commend Jamie Lynn. My mother was 17 when she had me, but she still completed school, went to college and got a good job. She had help from my grandparents, and now we are like best friends (i am now 29) more than mother and daughter. The only thing is she is in denial about being a grandma so young! LOL! I wish Jamie Lynn the best and even though it is hard, she has the resources to help her. Happy Birthday Jamie Lynn!!!

Posted by: stephanie at Apr 6, 2008 7:52:39 PM

They look really happy in this picture. I hope she had a wonderful birthday. I wish she, Casey and their beautiful baby the best. For being so young, she is handling this situation very well. I hope their baby is happy and healthy.

Posted by: Cherish at Apr 6, 2008 7:52:57 PM

Just to note on her ring - my 18yr old niece has a ring like that... but it's not an engagement ring... it's a PROMISE ring... a promise that they will get engaged when they are done with college and are ready.

That may be what Jamie and Casey have done... decided to wait till the baby is born and they are older and sure that marriage is the right step.

Posted by: kat at Apr 6, 2008 10:02:56 PM

Like many of you said, who are we as a society to put an age on motherhood or on responsibility. Another thing that I'm surprised no one has mentioned in the tabloids thus far is that Beyonce's sister Solange also had a child when she was 17 but didn't experience near as much scrutinty as Jamie Lynn.

Posted by: Jill at Apr 6, 2008 10:54:30 PM

to Jill... YES, she did... her parents hid her away... but in "ethnic" media, they had a FIELD day w/ Solange... because the Knowles worked so hard to portray they had the "perfect" family... NOT trying to start anything... just wanted to correct a mistake...

I like his shirt! They look happy.
