Two gigs in one day, One today!

Filed under: News — DaveHughes @ 1:25 pm

I’m suffering from a massive hangover today. Yesterday was pretty good fun. At 1pm I received a message on MySpace asking if I wanted to play at The Arts Centre in Paisley at 3, so I went along. Saw a couple of really good acts and then played my own set:

Set

  • Never took the time
  • On Our Own
  • Sometimes I wish I had a mohawk (Al Baker)
  • A thousand words
  • Walk You Home
  • The Huntsman (Chris TT)
  • Paradise (This City)
  • Modern World
  • First Step to Failure
  • Daddy Fought the law
  • Once We Were Punks

Jeez, thats a fucking long set! I didn’t realise at the time! After a few drinks and a great chat with the promoter (I’m now lined up for a few gigs at the Paisley Folk Festival, will post the dates soon), I headed in to Glasgow to see Jimmy Richards play at Gramofon. Then things got really weird.

I was three, no in fact make that ten, sheets to the wind and found myself, guitar in hand playing a very very ramshackle wee set. From what I can remember (and the details are very hazy)

  • If I were Frank Turner (Al Baker)
  • Sometimes I wish I had a mohawk (Al Baker)
  • The huntsman (Chris TT)
  • Never took the time
  • Thatcher Fucked the kids (Frank Turner)

Yeah, a heavy Al Baker basis, but the first song wasn’t really in full. I only just realised when I was stumbling through it that while I knew there was a G, a C, a D and even a B minor, I couldn’t remember the lyrics. He’s a wordy bastard, Mr Baker is. Luckily though, there were a couple of people in the crowd who were singing/shouting them back and kinda guiding me through it before I gave up and did Mohawk. Roll on the 7th of June at Katies house!

And today I’m off to meet Roscoe Vacant in Glasgow and then drive up to Faslane Peace Camp to play a set! Should be awesome!
