And Junior sounds like an utter nightmare of a person to have dinner with under any circumstances--perhaps this might be the perfect time for those two most magical words in the English language, one of which starts with F, and the other of which starts with O?

Don't give up on birthday meals. It's the one time your friends are expected to pick up the tab, so don't be afraid to get two desserts and take a few things for the road.

The day I turned 40 was horrid and I completely fell apart. I can sooo relate to people not wishing to acknowledge their birthday. I do wish you a happy b-day though and I hope this new year will find you in a good place. Go easy on yourself and f--k Junior.
