haha this made me laugh…
shows microsoft workers realise how crappy microsoft are…
the user could actually have windows running on that apple… mind blowing concept. Since when did microsoft become a brand of laptop?
shut up
argument fail
agreed.
Thank you. Somebody, at least, has a brain on this site. Microsoft deals mainly in operating systems, /not/ the hardware itself - the actual computers are left to companies like Dell and Gateway.
.. and (that’s the whole point) Apple. But still.. Since Apple is also the manufacturer of the 2nd commercial OS, I would have picked a non-Apple brand of laptop.
Perhaps this was a presentation on how Windows runs on a Mac.
i don’t think so
me neither
Yeah sure, encouraging your user base to try out the competition’s superior OS en route to running your third-rate copy on hardware superior to the crap they’ve been using makes perfect sense.
understanding-difference-between-hardware-and-software FAIL
Understanding-who’s-your-competition Fail
Actually, it’s an “understanding-who’s-your-competition” win. Infiltrate your competitors hardware with your software….
Actually, it’s a “long-term business strategy” fail. Making Office for Mac (or iTunes of Windows) to infiltrate the other lot’s user base is one thing; openly endorsing your opponent’s competing product, introducing their hardware and software (the latter of which is directly competing with your own) to your own user base (who are used to buying cheap shonky crap from the likes of Dell whom you have bribed and bullied to push your shitty OS upon customers)…
It’s as if Nintendo were demonstrating their old SNES titles by running them on a PSP through emulation. Oh, wait, Rareware (under MS ownership) keep making Nintendo games to pay the bills, so I guess it’s nothing new
Right, have fun switching out parts to your mac. Oh I’m sorry they are glued in there…..
Dammit! If only I could be trapped in a neverending cycle of planned obsolescence, being forced to make piecemeal upgrades to my hardware every five minutes!
Why is it whenever Microsoft and Macintosh get brought together, you fucking geeks always have to make like some nigger gangs arguing over the differences.
intollerance win
Haha They dont get viruses that way LOL
Microsoft doesn’t wanna get infected by viruses so they use macs lol. Microsoft workers are smarter than they look LoL.
Yeah, and offcourse apple users get so few virusses because it’s not an interesting group for virus-coders… To few systems.
Sad true but… fallacy.
True: “apple users get so few virusses because it’s not an interesting group for virus-coders”
But: mac os x is Unix. Unix is self-secure just because use an ancient (40 year) security layout based on users account and security privileges. the same happen on windows since win-nt but they use an flexible layout wich give a normal user administratives capabilities. Conclussion: It’s easier code a virus to mess with windows than any Unix-based system (like Mac).
yep, mac osx is just a linux distru with a price tag.
Fail, it’s Unix. And yes that’s a significant difference.
Haw haw, FAIL. It’s called BSD, dumbass. If Mac OSX was based on Linux, Apple would have to provide it for download free of charge (they could still charge for CD/DVD installation media, manuals, and support.) The BSD license says, “You can keep changes you make to this stuff to yourself.” The GPL says, “You have to share every change you make to this.” One license safeguards freedom for the developer, the other protects the freedoms of the user.
freeware fail
there are many $$$ Linux distros out there in the enterprise world
red hat, novell, etc,
Ancient = 40 years?
Getting old fail.
That’s ancient in computer time. Especially when ENIAC was built only 65 years ago. That’s like ENIAC being the beginning of the Earth and UNIX being the end of the dinosaurs.
Evidence shows that the earth was formed 4.5 billion years ago, and the dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago. In your analogy, if 65 years ago is equivalent to the formation 4.5 billion years ago, then the end of the dinosaurs would be near the end of July 2007.
lol did you calculate that or it was just random¿?
No I looked up the times for Earth formation and dinosaur extinction.
65mil / 4.5bil = x/65
x = .939 years = 342.7 days
Today - 343 days = July 25, 2007
Metaphoric interpretation: fail.
Literally combing the desert: success.
Use of the word ‘literally’: FAIL.
Actually it was a simile because he said, “That’s like….”
In the interest of balance, it should be taught in schools that many people believe that God created ENIAC and all other forms of computer software 4,000 years ago.
religion troll FAIL
Could be using a non-linear scale though
Could be a non-linear scale…
double-posting FAIL
Inaccurate explanation fail. Neither user/group nor ACL based permissions are inherently more or less secure, despite what anyone may say. It’s how you use them. For instance, Ubuntu gives the normal user admin capabilities, you just type in your own password again when you need to do admin stuff. But most exploits are NOT due to lax user privilege restrictions, they are due to BUGS. Microsoft has more BUGS and they don’t fix them as fast, that is the real reason it is easier to write a virus for Windows.
Nope, it is not bugs. The vast, vast majority of viruses and trojans do not take advantage of any bugs in the OS. They take advantage of stupid users who download and run infected shareware or other malicious programs (porn sites and warez sites are filled to the brim with bogus software that just installs trojans and viruses).
The more serious viruses that infect the core system on Windows work solely because almost every single Windows PC is running with a user with full Administrator privileges. A lot of quite useful/interesting trojans and viruses don’t even need Administrator privileges, though. Even non-privileged users can run spam trojans or programs that report private information or ad popup programs on the user’s data.
Linux is more resistant to such things solely because it’s such a major pain in the ass to install third party software. There is no easy way to just grab a program from a website and install it. You are forced to install software from the distribution’s software repository (unless you want to go through a lot of extra work), so it’s a lot harder for viruses and trojans to be introduced to a user’s computer.
Interesting thread fail.
Nerds in pointless internet argument FTW.
wall of text!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sean… i read blah blah blah blah blah blah blah … lemme adjust my nerd glasses… blah blah blah blah
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Actually, the “it’s not an interesting group for virus-coders” is the main reason. Most viruses are written by true geeks who therefore use a Linux system. Therefore they don’t want to risk fucking up their own systems and possibly remove the ability to fuck up other people’s systems.
In conclusion, no significant viruses exist for Linux because the people who write viruses use Linux.
knowing the difference between to and too FAIL.
History fail. Windows is built on MS-DOS–an operating system designed at a time when a computer was a “one-user” machine. Some people didn’t anticipate using them in networks and so security was not built in. When networking and the internet came along, security had to be tacked on rather than built-in; their installed base was too big to move. Microsoft has been trying to tack it on ever since. Conversely, networking and the need for security were givens by 1984 when Mac OS came along. It has always been harder to hack Mac OS for that reason, so no one wasted the effort.
It’s still difficult or someone would have done something on a scale like Blaster or Sasser already.
History fail fail. Windows XP and Vista are not based off of MS-DOS, they are based off of NT, which was built from the ground up as a networked server OS. The last Microsoft OS to use MS-DOS was Windows Me (may it burn in Hades).
Problem is that the NT systems are still based off of the same user setup. A retarded monkey could install something without the admin’s permission onto a NT system and royally screw it up, while on the other hand a unix/linux based operating system has to have root access, or administrator access for all you nubs who have no clue what root is, to change any system files and accomplish what a normal virus sets out to do. The only real way you get easy virus access like you would on a windows box is if the person who set up the unix/linux OS logs in as root every time he boots, which is just idiotic.
You can still get viruses if you are running Windows on your Mac. But they only affect the Windows partition of the hard drive.
FIRST
Anonymos rulez!!
Stop trying to pretend you are me. You fail as First and you fail as “Anonymos”.
Anonymous fails at correcting spelling for anonymous, and double fails since ananymos is probably what he wanted to use.
It’s spelt “anonymous” you dick.
Not “ananymos” or “anonymos”
It’s spelled “spelled” you dick.
Not “spelt.”
I don’t know what we’re yelling about. Cries.
