Mike Myers' The Love Guru Poster Revealed

There isn't much new to see here, but the first poster for The Love Guru has finally been revealed. I've been waiting with my fingers crossed for this project to come together. I'm hoping Mike Myers has made the next Austin Powers, but I don't want it to be a dud and I'm worried this is headed that way. I'm guessing we'll see the first trailer in the next few weeks, considering posters and trailers are usually timed together. For now, enjoy this poster and expect some footage or a trailer quite soon.

The Love Guru stars Mike Myers, Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Romany Malco, Meagan Good, and of course, Verne Troyer. Thanks to our friends at IMPAwards for finding this poster.

The Love Guru Poster

In the film, Pitka (Myers) is an American who was left at the gates of an ashram in India as a child and raised by gurus. He moves back to the U.S. to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality. His unorthodox methods are put to the test when he must settle a rift between Toronto Maple Leafs star hockey player Darren Roanoke (Malco) and his estranged wife. After the split, Roanoke's wife starts dating L.A. Kings star Jacques Grande (Timberlake) out of revenge, sending her husband into a major professional skid -- to the horror of the teams' owner Jane Bullard (Alba) and Coach Cherkov (Troyer). Pitka must return the couple to marital nirvana and get Roanoke back on his game so the team can break the 40-year-old "Bullard Curse" and win the Stanley Cup.

The Love Guru is directed by Marco Schnabel, who worked as second unit director on Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, and Austin Powers: Goldmember and is now directing his first feature film. The script was written by both Mike Myers and Graham Gordy. The Love Guru arrives in theaters on June 20th this summer.

Yeesh. I stand by my original assessment; this is going to be awful. With Austin Powers, Myers had the crutch of familiarity to lean on. We knew what he was making fun of; we've all seen James Bond and other Secret Agent shows and movies. We laughed along with him; in this I think we're going to be laughing at him. And not in a good way. I realize it's not a lot to go on; a one sheet and some still photos, but my Spider sense is not feeling good over this one.

I have to admit, it seems very complicated for this type of film & does not look good on paper. I also have to say, if anybody can pull it off, it would probably be Mike Myers. The Austin Powers trilogy was also complicated on paper but you see now, how Mike brought it all together in near perfect fashion (except for Beyonce's acting; horrible even for a silly comedy). We will have to wait for a trailer but I have learned to never count out a comedy genius; & that is exactly what Mr. Myers is.

Mike Myers is sharp witted! I think only he can pull something like this off! Austin Powers was a good trilogy(with rumors of another sequel floating around). I remember the 1st Austin Powers not being very popular, until it caught fire on home video. On the other hand, Myers couldn't even save "The Cat in the Hat". I think "The Love Guru", might illicit the same audience response as Austin Powers. I'd still like to see a trailer though!

Is that plot description for real? What do you think the tats on his knuckles say? The left hand starts "D", "R"...

Sad, am I the only one who thinks this might be pretty funny? Maybe it's b/c of my background. My dad was into lots of spiritual stuff and was into the Hari Krishnas in the 60's/70's and he used to tell mestories about that... so with that in mind this seems hilarious. 😛

This Sounds like it may actually be quite funny. Leave it to Myers to bring hockey into the forefront of major cinema (good 'ole Canadian boy). I have high hopes for this movie, it doesn't seem any more complicated than "So I Married an Axe Murderer", which was an amazing movie.
