Does This Excite You? New Poster for Wanted

Wanted Poster

The last few posters that have been released recently (with the exception of the beautiful Hellboy II poster), have been fairly unimpressive. We talked about the new Strangers one yesterday. Now it's time to talk about the new Wanted poster. I really don't know what is going on with Universal. They seem to have set dates a mere two to three months from a film's release to introduce a poster (is this testing a new marketing strategy?). We barely got The Incredible Hulk poster a few weeks back, we don't yet have a Mummy 3 poster yet, and finally we have the very first poster for Wanted.

This poster debuted at the New York Comic Con last weekend as an exclusive. This isn't the final poster you'll see in theaters but was a one-time thing for attendees of the Con. I've got the same question to ask with this one - how excited for Wanted are you? Does this poster fulfill your desires for something energetic as we lead into the summer? Is this movie destined to flop or is it going to hit as big as the other four comic book movies this summer?

The Strangers

Based upon Mark Millar's explosive graphic novel series and helmed by stunning visualist director Timur Bekmambetov—creator of the most successful Russian film franchise in history, the Night Watch series—Wanted tells the tale of one apathetic nobody's transformation into an unparalleled enforcer of justice. In 2008, the world will be introduced to a hero for a new generation: Wesley Gibson.

Wanted is directed by Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, of Night Watch and Day Watch previously. The movie is based on a comic book series by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones published by Image Comics. Wanted hits theaters full force this summer on June 27th.

I really liked the first Wanted trailer. This poster is ok but could be much better. They should have used the frame from the trailer where McAvoy jumps through the glass window and it shatters.

Nothing will excite me about this movie. They are going in too different a direction from the book, and understandably. But as a movie, forgetting about the graphic novel, it looks okay and I might go see it in the theater. And thats a big maybe given prices at the theater. Too bad.

Looks action packed and just plain fun, I think I'll like it. I saw another trailer before forgetting sarah marshall where it talked alot about curving the bullet, it seemed like maybe too much emphasis on that and thats gonna be the movies gimmick, I hope theres more to it then that.

This film is just sad. The only thing that it has in common with the comic book is the name. Poor Mark Millar...

Nothing to jump up and down about. I still believe Angelina Jolie is quite overrated. I hope Morgan Freeman's appearance in this flick helps.

I don't doubt that this may be a fun movie to watch, but it's just another action movie, because they literally destroyed what makes the graphic novel so unique; it's a story about super villains. I'm not talking about a anti-hero or a bad guy with a few good qualities, the main character of this comic is a complete murderous psychopath. There's nothing about curving bullets or anything like it in the comic, the main characters super power is that he's just really good at killing people. Jolie's character has a cat like super villain outfit with the ears and all, Morgan Freeman's is a four foot tall pedophile mad scientist. What's the point of "adapting" something so far from the source?

Is anything with Angelina Jolie on it really that bad :)? Its kind of weird, not really showing much of anything but the two actors and guns and McAvoy isn't famous enough to be recognizable on a poster yet so it is kind of random to have him there. Makes sense though that's why Jolie is in the front.

Only reason I'm seeing this is for the director. His watch films are great and I hope to see him become another Del Toro and get big bucks from US studieos to make his vision bigger.

What the fuck is up with her head? Did she lose a neck in the development of the movie? Looks like a really bad photoshop

Looks cheap and nasty - Very shoot em up, which also sucked.

If this movie didnt have Jolie in it i think it would be alright. Her days as a badass are done, That was 12 years ago (Hackers) Any how the poster is Lame. I mean come on, any one of us could have made a way better poster at our house. This looks like some offshoot wannabe, competitor of like say mission impossible.
