Australia Trailer

Welcome to Australia. An epic and exciting new trailer for Baz Luhrmann's Australia has debuted this morning. At long last we finally get to see what this movie is really all about - the "rule breaking" romance between Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. I've said it before when the first trailer hit and I'll say it again - this movie looks absolutely amazing. I definitely think Baz Luhrmann has pulled off another huge success and I really can't wait to see it. At least it'll be enough of a love letter to Australia to finally convince me to visit the country, which I've been putting off for a while. And I think this definitely will be a strong Oscar contender this year. Be sure to check out this trailer today, you won't be let down!

A romantic action-adventure set in northern Australia prior to World War II, Australia centers on an English aristocrat (Kidman) who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Jackman) to drive 2000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country’s most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.

Australia is both co-written and directed by Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann of Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet previously. Other high profile screenwriters Ronald Harwood (The Pianist, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), Stuart Beattie (Collateral, Pirates of the Caribbean, G.I. Joe), and Richard Flanagan (The Sound of One Hand Clapping) have been involved with elements of the script as well. Fox is debuting Australia in theaters everywhere on November 26th this fall.

I'm a fan of the people involved, hope it's good.

wild and awesome. I'm pumped. Looks like its somewhat predictable, but nonetheless enjoyable. I liked the use of Explosions in the Sky in the beginning.

Luhrmann is typically an "everything but the kitchen sink" type of director, so it will be interesting to watch him spread that out a little more into an epic-sized story and location. Truthfully, I have no reason to care about Australia - especially as a period piece. But I think the cinematography is what's going to hook me on this one. Does anyone else find it weird to hear Jackman use his native accent? I've known him as Wolverine for so long, anything else sounds weird...

EITS is a pretty popular choice to use in movies these days. They're the new Clint Marshall.

I'm not sold yet. Enjoy hearing Explosions in the Sky and agree with Stabmaster. But at the same time, as much as I love the music, I don't really think it fits here.

A bit more action than I was expecting.

Well my girlfriend will be happy as it mostly looks like Hugh Jackman just walks around with his shirt off for the whole film.

It looks like such a predictable film, how is it Oscar worthy? I think we've all seen this kind of love story over and over again, and this movie doesn't really put that much of a twist on it, does it? Anyways, I'm hoping this isn't as predictable as the trailer makes it out to be. "Their love, defied destiny." Come on...

That was great! BTW - it's coming out Nov. 26, not Nov. 14 (date was changed in August).

Great song by Explosions in the Sky titled "The Only Moment We Were Alone," in case anyone was wondering, but the song definitely didn't fit with the look of this film; I liked the first trailer much better.

There's a different trailer showing in front of Eagle Eye in Australia...it's a combination of the first trailer ('A land called...Oz') and this one. It's less action-y and more 'epic'. Either way, I'm sold.

Baz Luhrman gargles my balls! I HATED Romeo + Juliet and REALLY HATED Moulin Rouge. I don't expect to not hate this.

I live in Darwin which had more bombs dropped on it than Pearl Harbour (so there!), but our wartime history was suppressed by the Govts of the time. The shots of Japanese dive bombers over 'our town' did give me shivers; it was almost enough to overcome my aversion to the Kidman factor.... almost.

It looks awesome, I'm a fan of Baz's style, which of course, is not for the mere mortals. Besides Kidman and Jackman are there so I'm oversold. It will be great.

Looks cool. They premired it during DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES on Sunday though.

ok lets remake titanic but instead of a boat lets just use a desolated country still, its gonna be fucking epic

I just can't get past Nicole Kidman, she is just awful! A shaved dogs ass could do a better job.

I liked this movie better when it had Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeleine Stowe.

Hugh Jackman rocks. I also like Nicole Kidman a lot...its about time she made something I wanted to see. Lets face it, she doesn't have trouble getting work, but most of her movies bomb (Don't they?) This does look epic, those of us who say it looks predictable are right...but in a good, old-fashioned Hollywood-style predictable!

#9's right - is does look completely predictable. but it also looks really well-made and interesting. Yes, people have been remaking the same love story... for thousands of years, and it still gets an audience. The cast and crew involved are all amazing - I'm looking forward to it.

Wow Bob number 23 you seem to be so articulate in your choice of words. Nicole Kidman is by far an extreamly talented actress ... You show your lack of intelligance when you post comments like that. The movie does look amazing ... A lot better than other movies I would say that could be listed together with it, like Pearl Harbour that was just horrible writing and acting. I am really looking forward to this film ...

As shallow as this is...I'm looking forward to it because I love Hugh Jackman. This might be the role Nicole Kidman needs to be rejuvenate her career--her last few movies have been bombs.

People always get so personal with their posts. attacking intelligence and everything. oy. as for predictable, yes, it does look that way. but i agree with 22: epic. I think it'll be a movie worth watching... and I still haven't seen Titanic, nor do I care if I do. maybe one day...

Looks like a decent movie. At first I thought it looked a little too similar to Far and Away but that all changed about 30% of the way in to the trailer. Good cast and Baz Luhrman is someone I expect to be able to pull this off although I wasn't a fan of the Romeo + Juliet movie. One of the worst Shakespeare adaptations I've seen, but between Moulin and Strictly, he's got my vote of confidence.

This looks to be the hottest movie for the Holiday season. I predict many Oscar nods and maybe wins. I know it will win some techs come February. I hope Nicole is great in this film and quietens the naysayers for awhile. She really is a great actress and needs a good role to sink her teeth in. I hope this does the trick. Hugh Jackman looks yummy.
