Rockin' Christmas TV Spot for Frank Miller's The Spirit!

We already ran the official final trailer for The Spirit previously, but Lionsgate has launched on more TV spot worth checking out. This may be the last of any Spirit footage we share, just because I’m tired of running the same stuff, especially when all that’s left to see is what they won’t show us in the trailers. The joke here is that this is the “Christmas Spirit” trailer – you’ll know exactly what I mean when you watch it. It also hits theaters on Christmas Day, so Lionsgate is pulling every last trick in the book to try and drum up some interest in this. It’s at least very creative and entertaining. Did it work? You tell me…
Thanks especially to SuperHeroHype for debuting this fun little TV spot. Looks good enough to run, but doesn’t mean this movie is actually going to be any good in the end. What do you think?

The Spirit is both written and directed by legendary comic book author Frank Miller, who previously worked with Robert Rodriguez to direct segments of Sin City. The film is based Will Eisner’s newspaper comic strip of the same name that originally debuted in 1940. Lionsgate pushed up its release from January next year. The Spirit will now hit theaters everywhere on December 25th, Christmas Day.

OK..I get it now...for a comic-book-on-film, it looks like it might be fun...in the beginning I thought it was actually supposed to be a movie...silly me...

That's highly amusing. Nice pun. If this had been the first trailer I'd seen for the movie, I might still be excited. But the more I see, the less interested I get. It still looks wonderfully stylish, but looks too muddled. Given that I really want to see all of the above-the-line nominated films before Oscar night, and that most of them will probably be coming out in December, this one may end up falling off my must-see list. Pity, really; I was so psyched for it back at Comic-Con when the city was covered with those "This city protected by the Spirit" signs.

I think that was far out. A really cool campaign with like, bullets flying and back flipping and all that, It looks like it could pique the interest of the average moviegoer.

I'm a lover of the pulp-based concept of "mystery men", as opposed to superheroes (which I also like), especially in a noirish, art deco (30's-40's) setting. Characters like The Shadow, The Spider, The Sandman, The Question (Rorschach's original model), and the more obscure Black Bat, The Witness, Midnight, etc. Batman is a cross between a mystery man and a superhero. Back in the 90's, they had the elements to make a great "Shadow" movie, and blew it. This looks like Frank got it right!

Haven't seen it in awhile, but must disagree on "The Shadow". Flawed as it might be, I would have loved a sequel. Hell, it had Jonathan Winters in a dramatic role, and he was great! Some parts were cheesy, but some parts (I think it was on a bridge, with tommy-guns a-blazin') were pretty good! Great production design, too. That being said, this movie is going to have great characters and dialogue, more so than usual, for it to be more than just a gimmick (that's already been done..)

It's a shame really. I loved Eisner's The Spirit. This is not it. This is Sin City 1.5, or maybe How the Spirit Got His Groove Back. I haven't decided yet. The Spirit is supposed to be lighthearted fun and and full of heart. The characters were ones you could really enjoy. Dolan is a goofy cop with a very strong willed daughter. Denny Colt is oafish in his demeanor but it's always an act, almost like Clark Kent or Peter Parker. This looked bad at first. It looks like a train wreck now.

this looks kinda lame if I do say so, I hope its not but samuel jackson!? I mean come on could you get any more cliche. and yeah the more I see the worse it looks. Im getting kinda sick of seeing anything on it.

There's something about the "Spirit" that reminds me of "Speed Racer." The over the top cinematics I guess is pushing me to think this is a failed movie in the making.

Anyone got a book of the dead so we can raise Eisner and let him go "thriller" on Miller's ass! Hell while we're at it why don't we give Moore a high powered rifle and have him hunt down Snyder that would be a fun lil' adventure!.....ooooohhhhhh CAKE!

@15 - Well i agree with the sam jackson statement but i have 2 say this TV spot wants to make me watch it cuz after i saw the first trailer i thought it was going 2 be crap but it can't be any worse than lakeview terrace now can it??? btw, does anyone know who does that version of Carol of the Bells??? and if so can u send me a link 2 a download or sumthin???
