Within only two months of each other, Fox will release live-action adaptations of two of the most beloved Japanese franchises - Dragonball and Street Fighter. We've already seen how awful Dragonball looks, but until today, we haven't seen much from Street Fighter. The official site has debuted a Japanese trailer for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li which you can view below. This trailer doesn't actually look that bad, which is quite a relief considering everyone was worried we were going to get another repeat of the Van Damme movie from 1994. But alas, they may actually have created a fairly entertaining movie!

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is directed by ex-cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak, who directed Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Doom previously. The script was penned by up-and-coming screenwriter Justin Marks, who also penned screenplays for Masters of the Universe and Voltron. Hong Kong fight choreographer Dion Lam, who previously worked on The Matrix Trilogy, Spider-Man 2, and all of Bartkowiak's previous films, is handling the fight sequences. Fox is debuting Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li in theaters everywhere on February 27th. See you in theaters!

The trailer is to me, too short. I mean, their wasn't a lot of their main points or action points shown too much. Now I love stories, however this movie feels like its 80% story 20% action. Curious what the power glowy thing is in the beginning/ middle of the trailer.

@#1, Right on. For some reason, I can't get enough of that guy. This trailer looks better than the Dragonball trailer by a mile, though. Kristin Kreuk is hot as hell, too.

I can't see this being an easy sell to the general audience. It's a Street Fighter movie without the main characters of Ryu and Ken. I'm not a fan of Kristin "Smallville" Kreuk, so it doesn't matter to me that she's playing Chun-Li. I like Neil McDonough, but he's not my first choice for M. Bison. I didn't even know he was in it until I watched this trailer, and even then I had to jump over to IMDB to see who was playing. Not a good sign when even a fan or Street Fighter can't recognize who the actors are supposed to be in a trailer.

Looks like your average martial arts movie, with a good cast. Looks like they just slapped the street fighter name on it to sell just a few more tickets. Not really a big deal to me, I'm not a fan of street fighter. Even though I am disappointed no ones wearing their costumes. Especially Bison.

Considering A) The actors involved B) The director C) Main actress D) Awful Wire Fu E) Fact that Street Fighter is all about Ryu/Ken/Bison/Guile (Why not just do a straight adaptation of the Street Fighter 2 animated movie?????) This looks like a piece of shit. Dragon Ball will end up being funnier to watch than this, because this just looks like bad garbage.

I think this looks a million times better than dragonball. Complaints about wire work? This IS street fighter. People are kinda supposed to be flying around. Complaints about no Ken or Ryu (who really cares about Guile?)? C'mon. This is a Chun Li movie. If it was just called Street Fighter, that would be a valid complaint. Anyway, I think at least looks way better than the Van Dammaged goods released previously.

I think we all knew that it would be miles ahead of the original Street Fighter movie in terms of quality, that was a given. That still doesn't hold this back from being absolute trash. But like others said it looks like a legit Hong Kong-style kung fu guilty pleasure in the vein of Jet Li's Black Mask.

Ehh... it doesn't look as bad as some people up here are saying. It is certainly better that the Dragonball movie. I guess we will have to wait until it comes out to see if it is bad or not. And can somebody plese translate what they are saying????

I'll check it out as a guilty pleasure. I love Kristin Kreuk and hopefully someone gives her some decent work (sure this might not be it), but I could see this being a Download or a laugh for a Saturday afternoon. It's less bad as Dragonball Z and technically speaking it will probably be less dissapointing than Watchmen and Terminator 4 (Im playing the measure of expectations here lol)

I can't see this as a box office movie but it looks better than Dragonball. This is a very fan based movie. I also think the main market is not North America but asia. You see how both Dragonball and Chun Li trailer are Japanese? Dragonball will be crap, it can't even attract fans. This one, SF fans will go watch it for sure. At least Vega looks like Vega in this movie.

i saw the trailer earlier this morning totally didnt get anything from it seeing it again i just noticed vega Neal McDonough is M. Bison? really I dont know just thought they had changed the story completely and he was some rich business guy or whatever I like McDonough but thats sorta disappointing I was curious if this was going to lead into other street fighter solo movies probably not now tho only seen the ending of the Van Damme Street fighter movie reminded me of power rangers

I rest comfortably knowing that, title aside, this is in no way related to the 1994 Street Fighter movie. That said, it doesnt strike too much of a chord in me. Compared to this, the Dragon Ball Evolution trailer showed me that that film is atleast trying to be something special. I'll still see it though, because I'm a Street Fighter fan and I want to see just how much Kristin Kreuk's acting abilities have improved, if at all.

It looks pretty good, I'l be watching it. Kristin Kreuk is fine keeping in mind that it's a western based movie. I'll be thinking that I'm watching some other movie inspired by the SF mythology and it's 'cause it's good in that way.

looks like a movie made directly for Television. this doesn´t necessarily means that a movie should be bad, but when it has this look but it´s actually for the big screen, then it looks awful, there´s so many great things to do with a big screen budget and then they brings us this trailer. hated. and I don´t get it, I ALWAYS agree with Alex when he like a trailer, when he´s excited, then I get excited as well, and then he show us this, saying that it´s gret, but honestly, I really hated. maybe in the end it turns out to be a great movie, but for now it just sucks.

Yeah right and "Dragon Ball Evolution" is bad. Chun Li is supposed to be the central character in the movie and we barely see her. I wonder if it's because she is so under developed athletically when compared to all the original source photos, that it's a monumentally bigger mockery than casting Keanu Reeves as Klatu. Why not strip it of the hopeless super heroine connection and just rename it "Police Woman?" You would have a movie 9000 times better than trying to hopelessly connect the lead to a video game character she only shares a micro-superficial resemblance to. You don't have to look hard to see the travesty. The sword fight scene alone is fall out of your seat laughable. Those arms couldn't power a single push up, little alone the power to stop a sword like that. This is a broke down sell out, only a crack addict with AIDS would admit to making. Even they would want to see all the money up front! Dear competent Fox employees the plane that is Fox, is just about to pass minimum safe jumping distance before striking the ground! Jump and deploy your parachutes in the next 60 seconds or face sudden impact.
