Fort Frances Museum exhibit focuses on residential schools

No votes yet

The Fort Frances Museum will host an exhibition, “Ontario Residential Schools: Our Story,” on the history and impact of the Canadian Government’s First Nations Residential School program.
The exhibition includes a traveling exhibit from Red Lake Museum, which focuses on the Red Lake and Pelican Lake schools. An additional exhibit, representing the local Fort Frances schools, will also be on display.
An opening and prayer will begin at 10 a.m. July 31 with light refreshments, and at 2 p.m. a special presentation will be featured of a film about the Mikinaak school in Onigamiing, illustrating an example of how First Nations schools can be approached in the future.
The public is welcome to attend both events.
The First Nations Residential School exhibition will open July 31 at the Fort Frances Museum and continue through Oct. 14.
