Fall Out Boy At The Araneta Coliseum

Believe it or not, this is actually my first time attending a major concert. And it’s also the first time I stepped foot into the Araneta Coliseum. Really. I’m a total newbie. So I am a bit curious as to how these things work. Well, anyway, I had to endure the traffic to Cubao. I wish I had a chaffeur, then I could just sleep all the way to the coliseum and not have to worry about where to park. I ended up parking in the space reserved for the handicapped which was a really convenient place. It was near the escalator. By the way, I am not disabled. And don’t ask me how I got to park there. Ate at Gloria Maris because I hadn’t eaten anything since lunch and I wasn’t planning on eating later. Well, the seats were fine, I guess. PT 101. But I would really have much preferred being in a much nearer row than R. Like maybe G, for example, or the seventh row ;-). I mean, we did pay a not-so-little amount of money, so it’s the least they could do, right? Sigh. Dream on. On my way to the seats, I saw some girls dressed in black and white, punk style, with things like ‘To Do List: Pete Wentz‘ printed on them. I’m guessing, groupies? Haha. The concert was presented by Smart and No Curfew and was a part of Fall Out Boy’s Friends or Enemies World Tour. They had two playdates in Manila in the same venue. So, the emcees were MTV VJs introducing the band and naming the sponsors and all that. I only recognized Anne Curtis. [I mean, I think it was her?] Bo-ring. The opening act was Chicosci. It was funny how they had to explicitly ask us to chant their name. The audience was really hyped on seeing Fall Out Boy. Who could blame them? I have to say Pete Wentz says the F word a lot. By the way, is he FOB’s official spokesperson or something? He’s the only one who actually speaks. Sure, Patrick Stump opens his mouth. But he opens it to sing. Period. And he can actually stand still for a long period of time unlike the others. Except for the drummer, of course. He’s glued to his drum set. I like the part where they sing Akon’s Don’t Matter. Weird, but cool. I wish they’d finished it. They also did Michael Jackson’s Beat It. They first asked the audience not to scream until they recognized the song. Oh, and I think the concert was pretty quick. Hoping for an encore, but no such luck. Oh, well. There goes my moolah. Here are some clips of the concert [which will be used for personal purposes only]. Cameras and video recorders are not allowed in the Araneta Coliseum, so don’t ask me how I got these clips. Let’s just say I’m a very resourceful person. The video is not that good. Well, what do you expect? Between the gyrating bodies, screaming fans and outstretched arms [not to mention, the 'event police'], it was pretty much impossible to capture an award-winning video from where I was. But it doesn’t end there. The audio is worse. However, you can make out the songs and some words if you listen closely. Assuming you know their songs, of course. If you’re not an avid Fall Out Boy fan, then good luck in deciphering the audio.

I was very disturbed when I learned that FOB had an autograph signing session in Mall of Asia [a rare opportunity] and only learned about it after they had already left the Philippines. Grr.
