You can get to work on time with the iPhone
The 6-month waiting period for the launch of the Apple iPhone since its announcement in Jan means that any new information undergoes detailed analysis. MacNN have reported some interesting details about the Google Maps functionality of the Apple iPhone which should help you get to work on time.
Based on the iPhone newsletter sent to AT&T subscribers there seems to be some subtle changes in the iPhone's UI. There are two new buttons as seen in the image below.
In the lower-left is a double-arrow button, it looks like it may be a toggle for the zoom functions. In the lower-right section of the screen is another new icon, which looks like a car button which could be to display the traffic situation. Google Maps has been adding traffic data to its Maps service recently so it seems to be the logical explaination. This means that you can now get to work on time if you check traffic with your iPhone (only in some American cities for now).
When I checked the quick tours for Google Maps available on Apple iPhone's website, these buttons are still missing in the UI. The images below should give you a better idea. The one of the left is from Apple's website, while the one on the right is from the iPhone newsletter.
The other small detail that was visible from the image (one on the right) is that all screens in the GIF have at last had the "Cingular" identification at the top replaced by "AT&T" which was expected after the merger of the two entities.
