X-Cell theme group meeting in Kauhajoki high school
24 April 2008Taru Nieminen, Tuomo Turja, Kristiina Valiniemi during the X-Cell Theme Group Meeting
X-cell theme group meeting held in Kauhajoki senior high school on the 23th of April was very positive. The headmaster of the high school, Taru Nieminen, and vice headmaster Kristiina Väliniemi joined the meeting which took place in the language learning base.
Kauhajoki senior high school has been actively developing open learning environments. New social web tools like G.ho.st and Ning can be part of this development. The practical use of these tools and the piloting participants’ role were the main topics in the meeting.
Two groups of learners in high school seem to be ideal for the piloting activities, which would start next August, actual studies starting one month later. The experiences of these two groups could be then compared with each other. Learners would also have their own groups in the X-cell network where they can discuss about the tools, their usability and development ideas.
In this way, also the students can actively join the piloting process with their experiences, ideas and innovations.
These ideas were to be presented in the Kauhajoki senior high school teachers’ meeting the next day. Taru Nieminen and Kristiina Väliniemi were invited to join the X-Cell network. Also other future actions were discussed in mutual positive spirit.
