SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- An initiative to raise sales taxes for combating gangs has been pulled, Sacramento County Supervisor Roger Dickinson said Thursday.Dickinson wanted to raise sales taxes by a quarter-cent to gain $50 million a year to combat gangs. The plan, however, wasn't well received in some Sacramento County cities, including Citrus Heights, which voted against the initiative.
Dickinson had modified his proposal but said Thursday that he realized he didn't have a lot of support.Instead, Dickinson will ask City Council to put the measure on the November ballot.
