Possible to install FC8 onto old partition with MS WinXP Home?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I'm trying to install FC8 with a boot disk onto a hard drive partition /dev/hdb1 which has an unaccessable OS: MS WinXP Home edition. How can I get rid of the XP Home and install FC8 using the same partition with the same amount of space? Do I have to format it using fdisk in Linux first? I have FC3 on a second partition. These partitions are on the same slave drive. Can you give me details on how to do it using the terminal/CLI? I can't install it using GUI. Because I have a Windows XP Pro on the master drive, I can't install FC8 by booting the system? Sorry, if I asked too many questions. Thanks in advance.

Just want to try and understand your question. If I am correct, you have WinXP home, WinXPPro and FC3 on three partitions on the same disk and you want to install Fedora 8 on the WinXP home partition? If you can boot into FC3, do so and post the result of:

Quote:
fdisk -l
This will enable us to better help answer your query.
