HTML Version of House Forecast Up

Finally, here is a very easy to look at version of the House forecast:

House Forecast 2006

The good news is that it is now easy to read, easy for me to update, and it has a permanent URL that you can bookmark. The bad news is that it is going to be a severe pain in the ass to add all of the hyperlinks. I still vow to have it all done by Tuesday.

You can now view all three of our forecasts in easy to read html: We are offering sponsorship opportunities for all three forecasts. It looks like the Governor's forecast is already taken, but the House and Senate Forecasts are still available (although one of them might go pretty fast). If your organization or campaign wants to sponsor MyDD's election coverage through a forecast page or in any other manner, please contact me at chris@mydd.com.

Nice house forcast (none / 0)

a lot of work went into that, great job!  I like our chanced with the House right now but we need to step it up in fundraising.  A lot of key dems trail badly in the money race.

Re: HTML Version of House Forecast Up (none / 0)

New AP story says Green(WI) has to return 1/2 million. Kos made a big deal about it, I doubt it will mean more than Green needing more cash. He is already strapped for cash as is, so this could be really hurt him. BTW, how do you add a link to a post?

On a tech note... (none / 0)

I use Firefox with overriding font and font size (whatever the page provides, I read it at 20 point Garamond).

Your House projections render like shit, I'm afraid.

Leaving my tired old eyes out of it, even in IE in Times New Roman at the 'medium' setting (Alt + V, X, M) - what looks like 12 point to me -  it still seems a bit squashed up.

The PDF was easier to work with (I use Ghostview, which allows navigation with the 'up/down, left/right arrows' - which the odious Acrobat Reader does not). Excel might be better still (though there's not really enough columns in your page to make the PDF too unwieldy).

One minor point - assuming you disregard my advice (ha, ha, ha...) and keep the HTML page, you might want to put a title in the HTML code (ie, between TITLE tags) - for easier flipping between windows.

Of course, Chris undoubtedly realizes that it's only truly worthwhile pieces of work that justify the effort of nitpicking...

Hm I would like to see one change in the forcast. (none / 0)

That would be South Carolina Governors race I think it should be at least moved up to "Likely Republican".

You know, probably you could find volunteers around here to do the hyperlinks

Re: HTML Version of House Forecast Up (none / 0)

What am I screwing up?  I add the two columns of numbers and I get Dems at a High of 22 and a low of 16 and republicans at a high of 1 and a low of 2.  That would seem to produce a forecast of 14 to 21 net seats gained by Democrats not 12 to 19.

Dem

Tier 0    4
Tier .5   4
Tier 1    4
Tier 1.5  4
Tier 2    4
Tier 3    2
High =   22

Rep (Low)

Tier 2    1

Net =    21

The Low works to 16 Dem and 2 Rep with a net of 14

How much does it cost to sponsor a forecast?

Re: PVI (none / 0)

Has anyone posted an explanation of the PVI? How is that calculated? Anyone? Did I miss that somewhere?

Re: HTML Version of House Forecast Up (none / 0)

THANK YOU so much for compiling this information!  It must have been an awful lot of work, but I appreciate it very much.

And I must be a lucky gal because I'm in the 9th District of Indiana!  Watch closely during the next few days, though, because the first debate is being held on Thursday and Baron's popularity could tank if he flakes out.
