Bobby Robson has been pleased with the way both Mark Viduka and Michael Owen have played in Newcastle’s last two games.

Mark Viduka - has played great the last two games

Bobby Robson was delighted to see both Michael Owen and Mark Viduka score against Fulham and the fomrer Newcastle and England manager fully expects both to be pivotal players in the run-in to the league.

“It’s great to see Michael Owen getting two goals in two games and he’s still a vital player,” “Mark Viduka has been a maestro.”

“He’s the kind of player who can have you purring with delight when he’s playing well or tearing your hair out when he’s not, but he’ll be very important in the next few weeks.”

We’ve certainly criticized Mark a bit lately, but his goal on Saturday was just superb, and we know because we’ve watched it about 100 times now. :D

What was noticeable with Mark on Saturday was he was really fired up and you could see that in his face when he scored. He’s everything we needed on Saturday, and credit to all the players but particularly the three front men of Mark, Owen and Martins, who looked so threatening and so good throughout the game.

We just need the team to play like Saturday for the rest of the season, and even improve so we can get away from relegation zone before too long.

You can vote on how you think we’ll do against Tottenham on Sunday - in the poll to the right.

Comments welcome.

It seems like Rozenhal is performing really bad for Lazio.

Tribalfootball also claim that Ronaldinho could be given a free transfer amid all the controversy that has plagued him this season.

But this is tribalfootball we are talking about.

Hopefully we’ll go down fighting against Spurs.

Unfortunately they won’t lie down as easily as Fulham and look to have to much pace and flair for our current crop of players.

Saying that they were all over us in both games last season and we still managed to beat them with Martins scoring a scorcher - man I could watch that goal all day

Haha dougnufc thanks! I needed that Rozenhal has got exactly what he deserves in Italy. A place on the bench.

Yeah, Spurs aren’t Fulham, so we’ll be needing a bigger perfomance from everyone.

They haven’t beaten us since the season before last though mind…. We did them 3-1 earlier in the season didn’t we?

Let’s hope Martins is on for the 90 minutes, Spurs can’t hack his pace. If Kev goes for the 4-3-3 again and feels he has to make a change, I sincerely hope he takes off Owen or Viduka.

tbh i dont expect anything from spurs so a point would be a bonus and it would be nice as you say to see a good committed performance.

last time we played them at white hart lane if am being honest we got hammered and won 3-2 lol. martins with a wondergoal, huntington lol and butt (:S). Defense will have to have a good game and there could be a few goals. same team id say apart from maybe geremi.

If we play the 4-3-3 against Tottenham we have every chance of getting a result. There are goals in this team.

Viduka is great player, real master in his job. I don’t know why did you criticize him. When he was in, and fit to play he was very dangerous. He’s great player, i really appreciate him. Just wish him to be fit and ready for every game!
    Go on Mark!

Mark Viduka looked brilliant as the goal was planned, purposeful and created by him, not a simple tap in, Michael Owen looked good too, Martins was heavily marked most of the time with two players, number 17 was always around him, but so was another player, looks like they thought Martins was their main threat and Viduka showed that he isnt the only threat, Spurs will have trouble planning against these three strikers as any of them can score.

With our back four, I think it’s certainly a case of attack is the best form of defence. I take that back to an extent, I’m fans of both Enrique and Beye…. dunno what’s happened to Stevey Taylor, but Faye is dog dirt.

As to Silkman, I hope there is such thing as Karma. I’d love it, just love it if you got cancer! In fairness, Robby Bobson is an absolute hero, I’d love to smack the silkman.

Bloody Nora, a lot of Toon fans are very optimistic about the Spurs game! I would love to see us win, and if we could pull off that little miracle - and it would take some doing - then we would be nearing safety.

  • 25 micepie // Mar 26, 2008 at 19:20

Oh!!! I was looking at the Fulham game predictions, not the Spurs one! Ha!

hey james easy on the bistro gags, i was going to say i think vidukas looking alot fitter now, when he first signed for us he looked much more like a fan than a player but it seems he’s worked hard recently and got the weight off, ed’s been a little to critical of him lately if you ask me he hasn’t been fit and been injured but he’s worked at it and were seeing the results.
